Struggling about in Asmos territory.

Hey guys, I (probably not the only one) have never played a single match of warhammer (40k/Aos) despite having collected and painted multiple armies, my town has only one store selling warhammer figurines which did so bad with it (with me as their only regular) that they sent the merch over to another store now.. and the closest by place that does have people actually playing is like 35 km removed or so, and my only options are bicycle and train. -_-
Not going to travel that distance on bicycle.

Anyway, thought to ask on these forums if there's more people from frysland here (translating to upper part of the Netherlands) and perhaps with some huge coincedence from the same town I'm in (I'll keep that vague for now, I'm a bit of a private person otherwise) because I've almost given up entirely now.

I have no internet at home nor own a mobile phone (nor a smartphone, never have) so I'm not too big on social media stuff and don't want to be either. This site however seems pretty nice so far so there.

I'll give this a chance.

Kind regards.
-Leopold Helveine.

I'm nowhere near you, but wanted to wish you luck in finding a gaming buddy.

I assume you don't have any geeky friends that are interested in trying a game with one of your armies?

I feel your pain. I'm stuck in the middle of the American desert southwest, and the nearest game store is 75 miles away. Even with a car that's too long a haul for weekly gaming.

Sadly, no.. tried with one of my few friends but he bought some salamanders marines and didn't even finish painting them, hasn't touched them since and his wife didn't like him spending (so much) money on a hobby. Heh.

I'm personally a gymshark so most of my ' friends ' are at the gym and they don't have interest in boardgames either.

Fresians are a type of cow. it's great to see 40k cross the species barrier. One might even say... moo-ving.

But jokes aside, anecdotally (half Dutch, but my family is from brabant - 'over the water' to the rest of you) at least, there's quite a few 40k players in the Netherlands. Even our local town has an official gw store.

Good luck on finding a local group- they will be around, trust me!

So that's why GW made cow-elves. It was to appeal to a new market. It all makes sense now.

There is a formerly prolific poster on warseer and Bolter and chainsword actually named spacefrisian, who is active again in the past year. I thought they were on dakkadakka but I think they changed their name and I havent found the account.

Oh but presumably while his parents are from frysland he lives in outer space. Perhaps your bicycle can take you to Tiangong.

While I was looking I found this other person, who said that he is Dutch and “5/6 Friesian (don’t ask)” idk what that is supposed to mean.

That’s his latest post on that forum and it’s from 2006. If you messaged him it’s possible it would alert an email address he still uses but in this time frame it could be a defunct address at a defunct provider.

The rules for them were very cheesy.

Want a better way to do fantasy/historical miniatures battles?  Try Conqueror: Fields of Victory.

Do you like Star Wars but find the prequels and sequels disappointing?  Man of Destiny is the book series for you.
