Thought it might be a good idea to have a thead to share KoW Battle reports.

I don't know that our group has any special insight into the game, but we're getting close to wrapping up a KoW mini monthly campaign that's been alot of fun.

The most recent Battle Report we've posted is here:
https://www.chicagoskirmishwargames.com/blog/2023/02/aar-kings-of-war-campaign-night-3-big-battle-of-baddies/
A four person game with some random scenario elements pulled from the classic WHFB Generals Compendium.

A couple more Batreps here:
https://www.chicagoskirmishwargames.com/blog/?s=%22Kings+of+War%22

Lastly, one notable battle that doesn't show up at that link is here:
https://www.chicagoskirmishwargames.com/blog/2022/09/aar-la-maisontaal-now-with-33-more-evil/
We did our own bloody version of the WHFB La Maisontaal scenario.

Would love to read anyone else's battle reports.

I'm not really a tournament guy, but our KoW campaign has got me to a point of comfort with the rules that I'd probably attend a tournament just to try myself vs new players. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any around Chicago except Adepticon and I've got other things to do there.

KOW tournaments are far chummier than you're probably thinking, really just a great hang with like-minded hobbyists, especially two day events where the brews and board games come out Friday and Saturday night. Heartily recommend given one a shot

I'd be surprised if there aren't more Chicago Land events, but I hear more about events to the East and West of Illinois ...

Nice pics and reports! Are those Khador warjacks grouped together on a tray?
Why do you knock the models over, by chance?

Looks like you have a fantastic group of players there. My whole family is from the Chicago area, looks to be a good place
to be a gamer.

Thanks!
Yep, those are warjacks. I wanted a model for Ice trolls that would better match the aesthetic of my army and they seemed like a good choice as they're big, slow, look allot like Chaos warriors and are figures I've always wanted an excuse to own. They're mostly stock with some weapon swaps to give them all H2H weapons. When I rebase to 50mm squares I plan to add a few chaos glyphs .

As for knocking figures over it's an easy way to pictorially show defeat of a unit and since my figs are all dipped and varnished there's not much danger of damage.

Lastly, as you suggest, I am definitely blessed to have a long running group of friends to game with. Chicago has a good scene, but it did take a bit of work to assemble a group with shared interests in less popular games. Once we found each other (more players always welcome) though, it's been a pretty stable crew for over a decade.

Eilif thanks for the reply. I hope more people see this thread; it's nice to view bat reps on a forum, easier to see it evolve as more contribute. My friend plays a lot of KoW and travels to cons around the surrounding states and here in California. I'll see if he has some pics to show the West Coast scene a bit.

amazing match of Kings of War today, returning to the game. First time I've played in over three years or so.

2300 points, Nightstalkers w/ Undead filler vs. Ogres.

The evil hybrid forces fell in the control mission and dissolved at the bottom of round five, but I gave the Ogres a good fight and made my opponent sweat a bit. good times. Now to get some shadow hounds together.
