Recently me and a couple of my usual gaming opponents have decided on expanding our wargame line into the future. We already have a number of troops for 10 mm Horizon Wars mass battles and came to conclusion it will be fun to bring our elite operatives in smaller firefights in the same shared universe.

Now, the Imperial Assault Squad "Jattukar" is finally ready to be deployed and are eager to prove their superiority. We think we will be using Spectre Operations as it seemingly allows for a deep tactical combat, with some tweaks to incorporate mechanized heavy troopers if needed.

Does anybody else have similar experiences with using modern rulesets for sci-fi skirmishing?

My favorite system for sci-fi combat bar none is Infinity. There's just nothing that quite captures the same feeling of corner clearing, checking fire lanes and the sense of coordinated movement you see in a spec ops firefight.

My favourite 'urban firefight' rules set remains crossfire, but it is quite abstract.
