Things have taken a nautical turn in my home of late...and warhammer wise it's gettin crazy. We're playing games with boats, amphibious assaults, grot islands...and. Well you'll just have to wait and see.

Welcome to Red Sands, its a moon of some gas giant. The same gas giant that has moons like Lava-o and Morkheim. After the first chaos invasion, Big Mek Wilford built his empire in this place and since then has used it to construct ships and build up a decent pirate base to pillage the surrounding systems.

But chaos is making a come back...and now the Orks will need a whole lot of lucky Waagh power to survive.

An ere's da beach town.

Coming Soon: Game 1. Da Black Pearl. A horde of pox walkers on a pirate ship mount their attack...

I'll try and get some more pictures up later this week.

But if anyone is curious about the rules, I kept it very simple.

Water can be deep (impassible terrain except for boats) or shallow (difficult terrain).

Boats are simply terrain features (Hills) that move six inches +an additional D6 inches in a straight line each turn until they reach the shore, then they stop moving.

Any models on the boat can remain stationary, move, charge etc. (So no penalty for shooting heavy weapons off the boat)

@Skinflint: Didn't intend this to be a forum based campaign but if anyone wanted to add their own silly orky games and weave it into a semi coherent story why not. My only stipulation is that it be kept chaos vs orks. As a propah war uzually az two sides to it.

I'm excited to read along, all those ork vehicles look really neat. Also, that octopus is very cute!

Careful! That octopus has dragged many an ork to a watery grave...it tends to align with Rebel Grots of course. Vehicles are from Gorkamorka.

More pictures and write ups this weekend!

Also planning to use this as an excuse to make a cardboard WWII amphibious transport. Orky D Day. Why not?

4 Small Games over the last couple of weeks. Two Chaos/DG wins and two ork wins. Not sure if there will be any more games, but here is the narrative component.

Chapter 1: As Told by Grotlin, the Grot.

Big Mek Wilford needed a lot of in-dus-try to make all the kool orky stuff fur Kaptin Rot Ears voidy ships, an all da trukks an trains and wot not.

Da smoke from all da wurkshops actually made Red Sands warmer...sumfin about Karbon Die-Oxide? I dunno. But Red Sands was always too cold...its much better now. We got sum nice beaches!

But all the toxic sludge was definitely not good as it was mukking the workshops up. So Wilford made a big pipeline and started pumping all the sludge up into the northern kontinent. This soon turned the regular desert into a toxic waste desert.

Sometime after, a grot that lived in the toxic sludge got sick, died, and then turned into the first zombie grot. The zombie grot then bit another grot which died and turned into another zombie grot, and so on and so forth.

Soon a zombie pandemic, helped by dem Plague Marines, had overwhelmed the northern kontinent.

Now there were two notable krumpings that occurred during this time. First, a Mega Nob named Mega Choppa and a mob of his boyz got krumped by a mutant Ogyrn and a pox walker horde respectively. Then there was...well no one remembers that other krumping so it must av not been much of anyfing.

Where did the plague marines come from? No one knowz, but da most kunnin orks say dey they just grew out of the toxic sludge. Of course, uvers say der wuz a time long long ago where da spikey boyz attacked...an der was a zombie war, and den it turned into a giant train on a frozen planet...but dat sounds re-diculous.

Chapter 2: As Told by Plague Commander Gradius of the Death Guard

These cursed xenos are a threat to any ship unfortunate enough to transit through this system...and yet there is no way for the plague fleet to NOT go through this system.

Of course, the fleet could have destroyed these xenos...but a full on invasion could have been costly. Indeed, it was rumored that sometime ago, one of Abaddon's fools had attempted to take this system by force and paid for it with his life and soul...the Death Guard would not be so reckless.

And so our breathren infiltrated this bizarre xenos moon. Our mission? To spread our contagion far and wide. If we could take the moon, so much the better, but if all we did was distract the orks so the fleet could slip by, than this would be enough.

We had our initial successes of course. And for a time, I started to believe that we could take the moon in full.

But alas, the waterways proved our undoing. After overrunning the northern continent, we came up against ork ships...ork submersables, their long range artillery. And we had nothing to match it. We couldn't breach the southern continent and soon we were coming under fire from afar.

I remember running through the shallow waters at low tide, leading my brothers in a desperate attempt to overrun an ork ship anchored in the shallows nearby...only to watch as their artillery...and strange warp gun obliterated each of my squad until only I remained.

It was in that moment that I realized the moon would not be ours. I can only hope that the conflict has forced the orks to move their fleet into a defensive position away from the mandeville point. I will prepare an extraction. Vengeance will be mine at a later time...

Open War Stand Off in the Shallows. Almost entire board was difficult terrain. Made it a challenging battle for the DG but still a very close game. (The orkies had been struggling with plague marines in close combat in some of our earlier land based games).

Orkies pulled off a win thanks to a shock attack gun rolling a 12 (Extra mortals!)+ a nice extra D3 mortal wounds from a skorcha buggy using the ramming strategem which combined knocked out a squad of 5 plague marines which were trying to hold the center objective.

And below...the orkies prepare to hit the beach in the largest amphibious invasion since D Day...ok maybe not. But we'll be doing some "Saving Private Yoof Ryan" action soon!

And for those of you emotionally invested in this campaign, the conclusion...

Final battle between a ship full of mega nobs and a ship full of plague marines.

This one was truly epic! The orks survived the initial salvoes of bolter fire and then boarded the plague marine ship. Great close matched close combat ensued. It all came down to who was armor saving better

About two out of five mega nobs went down, but scores of plague marines were killed, resulting in an ork win.

Narrative: With the seas secured, the orks were well positioned to reclaim the plague ridden continent. It took them a few months but they got it done.

The Death Guard sacrifice was not in vein though as it did allow their fleet to move through the system undamaged.

But the orks wouldn't stay distracted for long. Now Captain Rot Ear and his merry band of free booters and speed freaks are venturing out again in search of a good fight and plunder argh!

(Coming to attack a non canon fictional planet near you)
