I have to go to Barcelona for a work trip in May, so I was wondering if anyone has any specific recommendations for things a gamer/nerd would find of interest in the area.

Never been to Spain, so any general info/recommendations would be welcome too. We are staying near Plaça de Catalunya, and should be busy with work activities during the day, but nights and one weekend will be available for being a tourist.

Previous European destinations I've been to are Ireland, England, and Germany. So, not the first time on the continent at least.

Thanks!

Sadly my recomendation is to be very careful, and aware of your surroundings, some parts of the city are awash with petty criminals. And the police is unable/unwilling to curtail the issue.

On the positive side if you like architecture you will enjoy the city a lot.

Jenkins: You don't have jurisdiction here!
Smith Jamison: We aren't here, which means when we open up on you and shred your bodies with automatic fire then this will never have happened.

About the Clans: "Those brief outbursts of sense can't hold back the wave of sibko bred, over hormoned sociopaths that they crank out though."

The inside of Sagrada Familia is really trippy, and a pretty good source of inspiration for Tolkienesque/otherworldly buildings.

Girona is pretty cool as a daytrip if you have the time, it's an hour away by train but it's got a very well preserved medieval town centre where they filmed various parts of Game of Thrones.

I was there on my own in September and I never experienced any crime or had any cause for concern.

Spain 101: Be prepared for literally nobody besides your hotel receptionist speaking English, even restaurant staff will attempt to ignore you until you make it too awkward for them to continue doing so.

Posters on ignore list: 36

40k Potica Edition - 40k patch with reactions, suppression and all that good stuff. Feedback thread here.

Sagrada Familia has been recommended to me by several people. Sounds like it's worth it!

I'll bring Girona up to my group and see if anyone is interested.

Thanks!

Fortunately someone in our group is Puerto Rican, so we'll have that going for us at least.

Enjoy the Jamon and the Tapas.

Picasso Museum, Gaudi museum, roman ruins. There is some really great architecture there

I was there for 4 days and never came close to seeing anything sketchy but then again - I never went clubbing. Just keep you "big city eyes" on and itll be fine.
