So this may be blatantly obvious to some people but it's confusing the hell out of me.

Weapon ranges on legion are defined by using range categories on the cards. These categories can be listed as one of two ways, a single number or a range of numbers, for example;

4 or 1 - 4.

But put in those terms they appear to mean different things.

A single number denotes the maximum range listed. So in the example above you can use the weapon to shoot any target up to range 4.
But the two figures denotes the target must lie between the two ranges. So, again above, I can shoot at a target which lies between ranges 1 and 4. Which means that there is a minimum range and you cant shoot at a target if they're closer than range 1?

That seems wrong to me. Are there any Legion players that can shine some light on this?

So the reason there's confusion is because several things were printed wrong on this and then they changed the rules to cover both. In practice, 1-4 is the same as 4 since you include the range band of the minimum distance.

Range 4 and Range 1-4 are functionally the same.

There are examples of weapons that are Range 2-4 or 3-4 for example and they can't target enemies that are too close to them.
