Really looking forward to this one, spent so many hours in Payday 2, I have high hopes for this one.

Any word about the monetization model?

Cause I had a lot of fun in Payday 2 with friends until the monetizing of the game became too much. Still had fun but it was annoying how they handle content updates in 2 and I don't feel much desire to repeat the experience.

Chances are it'll be just like Payday 2, so new heists, cosmetics and heisters will be paid DLC, with freebies thrown in like the classic heists or certain big events, like the Hoxton breakout.

I think we can rest assured that they won't make a repeat of the whole "buy drills to open safes" thing again, they knew how much that was hated by the community as a whole and that was the first thing they dropped when they got out from under their then publisher.

Makes me wonder if they'll try a hype train again at some point, that was also quite the ordeal for some.

I really enjoyed payday 2 with friends and I never really was hurt by the monetisation of the game. If felt it was somewhat like a CSGO or Tf2 were most of it is cosmetics I don't care about. Heists were available by paying a dlc all thogether and play them in coop this way. Don't know if i'll pick it up because not so much time for videogames but if there's a sale of somehting and reviews are good I'm open to it.

Okay, played for a bit now and it's good. Not perfect, oh hell no, but it's good so far, as little as there is at the moment.

The matchmaking fluff up was the big one of course, but right now, biggest stumbling points are that you only gain personal XP through the completion of challenges (your weapons level up on their own through play) and as awesome as the new stealth system is right now, it's highly unrewarding, with no stealth bonus or better pay-out for doing a job quietly, as most challenges are linked to killing X-amount of enemies with Y.

Enemies, regardless of status, are also a lot more spongier, with a regular unarmoured beat cop needing, depending on the gun, several rounds to the dome before they drop. Gunplay feels good, but due to how spongy enemies are, the old "keep those helmets flying!" just isn't there any more. All the classics have returned, the new cloaker is amazing, the reworked shield is fun to play against now and the new grenade enemy isn't all that bad either. And calling tasers "zappers" now just feels wrong, but that might be due to a copyright thing, just like how FBI HRT has been replaced by generic SWAT in grey armour.

All heists are single day only, no more escape scenarios, but no more random placements of things either, if you mess up a heist, you can replay it and things will be in the same place as the last time. Not that many heists, but each one is nicely worked out and big, with all of them bar one having the option to go quiet or loud, even when you mess up stealth, still an option to finish it loud, no more instant game over. The mini games for certain actions, like lockpicking, cutting locks or safe cracking will probably be a YMMV thing.

NPC's are also more diverse now, so no more hordes of Bob's in the bank or store.

I'd say wait for a sale if on the fence, the game delivers, though what it is scarce as of right now.
