I'm looking for codecies from the 4th and 5th editions of 40k, in order to have a mostly-complete bunch of codecies for 5th edition play. I'd rather purchase them from a hobbyist (like all of you on Dakka) instead of an Oldhammer scalper on ebay. Thought I'd give this listing a try and see how I make out.
4e
Tyranids
5e
Cities of Death (5th ed)
edit: I've made progress and edited my wantlist.

Just a heads up. most of your list are the ones i own for our oldhammer games.
the prefered codexes for a couple armies are
.chaos-3.5- there has never been a better one.
.tyranids-4th
Additionally the 4th ed codex for dark angels is very different from the 3.5 edition codex. it has more options but less thematic rules.
The grey knight codex from 5th also treats the faction as a space marine chapter unlike the demon hunters codex which is designed more as an inquisitorial strike force with the ordo militant being grey knights. it is also a hard counter to the 3.5 chaos codex. i suggest getting both since they play differently.
The 4th ed black templar codex is the best they ever made for the faction, however for some reason it is super expensive on ebay compared to every other codex from previous editions.

Good tips, thanks. I have 3.5 Chaos and Daemonhunters books you mentioned (and most 3e and 3.5e stuff).
What is your take on 4e Tyranids vs 5e? I've never owned either.

I'll second using the 3.5 chaos codex. 5th split them and the daemons apart and left the CSM faction feeling a lot more bland. Also cheesed me off since I had just gotten a squad of seekers as a gift and then I couldn't use them with the army anymore right after There was much salt that day.

Why 4th?
The tyranids had far better biomorph options(including frag grenade equivalents-very important for gene stealers). less punishing instinctive behavior. synapse creatures were all eternal warriors (hive tyrants, warriors, zoanthropes etc..). the later books introduced the big bug obsession and they are easy enough to reverse import, but the core rules are just better.

I’ve made incredible progress. Only had one kerfuffle with Tyranid 4th ed that I hope to have resolved. Others are in transit and I will update again when they’re in.

Good news then! soon you will have a collection that rivals my own. i also suggest if you can find them the index astartes books from 3rd (assuming you do not already own them) they have compilations of WD articles that include chapter specific army lists (the chaos ones got put into the 3.5 codex) the white scars and iron hands ones are particularly fluffy.

I have all four Index Astartes from way back when. Those are fantastic books! I’m loving all the pictures in the 5th ed. books. Some of these I haven’t seen before or had only seen online. Feels like Christmas!

Welcome to falling in love with 40K all over again.
There is so much love in those old codexes. you didn't know how much you missed Andy and Rick until they were gone.
