Critical Hits and Critical Wounds should only trigger when you roll a die. Any mechanic that substitutes a roll for a set value should not cause criticals to happen.

This wouldn't by chance be related to Eldar Fate dice?
As an Eldar player, I actually agree.
I'm hoping GW FAQ Fate Dice to counts as Modified dice. That would prevent Crit affects.
Or at the very least, Farseers subbing any Fate dice rolled to be a 6 should count as modified.

I love the Fate dice mechanic in general, but with so many units having Devastating wounds, it's too easy for "That guy" to abuse
Dev wounds, Lethal hits, Sustained hits are specifically designed to only occur on 6s, barring interactions with the Anti- rule, so being able to ALWAYS choose when you get a 6 doesn't feel intended
