Hi guys,
I just thought about a quick list for the Salamanders, and was wondering if it was playable and enjoyable (for the opponent too ) ?
Nothing really original, but I tried to use the Salamanders traits and background to the best, using a few battle hardened veterans with 2+/3++ (4++ at worst) forcing my opponent to shoot them with plasma or melta, hopefully.
Feel free to comment

Spoiler:

I wouldn't play this list as either the player or the opponent.

As the player, it's got no shooting power, no zone control, and wastes a lot of points for two Troops units that will get mulched by heavy weapons and Dreadnoughts.
The Herald also isn't worth it for this list. The Leadership bubble isn't worth it when your units aren't going to take Morale checks as they are very small and very tough. You could and should just take a Tactical or Despoiler Squad instead.

As an opponent, this would be a slog of an army to play against. Even with 3 Dreadnoughts and a load of heavy firepower, it's still going to take ages to kill it all and IMO that's not fun for anybody. There's no real input beyond "Shoot unit until it dies" and I wouldn't want to play against someone again who took this list.

Eh, as long as your opponent knows that you're running three squads of termies in land raiders, I would have zero issue playing against it. As we know, Lascannons are nasty against tanks and once they pop, those termies are mostly walking and will be slow. I assume the Herald is to ride with the Pyroclasts and make them scoring/fearless?

I've made some changes, indeed this list was a bit quickly written in order to benefit from the Salamanders'rules, by forcing the opponent to use plasma and melta weaponry to crack open the 2+ and to have a maximum of multiple wounds models in order to use the it will not die.
The herald is indeed supposed to go with the pyroclasts, but now he can even go with the veterans, depending of the game
I've made some changes : I deleted a unit of terminators and the chaplain, and added a unit of antitank veteran and a librarian to go with the terminators :

You may not care, but power axes are bad. Really bad. Giga-bad. Any power weapon is astronomically better into MEQ, and fists are obviously vastly superior into TEQ. If you’re looking for points efficient flexibility which can threaten all targets I’d recommend a mix of swords and fists, maybe. 2:1 or 3:1 ratio. Fists are fists and swords are better than axes into dreads / vehicles and not incredibly distant vs TEQ. Considering these guys have a transport I’d recommend shelving the combis and kitting them out for success.

Lightning Claws and TH are obviously better than swords and fists in every way, but if you splurge for them you’re sacrificing the ‘points efficient’ part of mixed swords and fists.

Like wise a vet squared geared for shooting and mucking around with just chainswords feels… wrong. But I understand you’re trying to get objective holders in a Pride list.

I see ! Obviously I still have some 1st ed habits haha
Yeah, vets are troops and line in PotL so I need them, I kitted them with AT weapons but I figured that 2pts chainswords were cheap enough to equip them with without loosing anything
I'll look into the fists / swords thint, thanks !
