Dear Dakka Readers,
This is my attempt to make a decent list with my salamanders army I have been building since 2nd edition before it gets squatted/legended into oblivion.
While there are a lot of possibly defunct units here I actually think it works quite well.
I have formatted the list by role as it makes more sense that way.

2000points: Gladius detachment; Salamanders
FIRE BASE
Techmarine, full servo harness, stands next to dread giving +1 to hit and D3 wounds back each turn [70pts]
Dread: Twin laz and can't decide between missile launcher or DCCW+ HF the latter for some CC punch when opponents come calling
Devastator squad: Sargent SB and PF, 2x ML 2x Las last bit of the firebase, ML for adaptability
This group control back field objective or have good fields of fire at the midfield or ideally both.
MIDFIELD
Vulkan Hestan: Accompanies Tact squad 1 in a rhino for flamer/melta buffs at chosen targets
Tactical squad: TH, Flamer,, Heavy Flamer
Rhino: SB, HK missile

Chaplain: Accompanies Tact squad 2 adds some counter assault punch
Tactical squad 2: PF, Plasma, HB.
Rhino: SB, HK missile.
Vindicator: SB, HKM. Still damn scary and acts as a fire magnet allowing rhinos and their occupants to get into position.
THREAT ELIMINATION
Librarian with Bolter disclipline- adds durability
Devastator squad: TH, 4x MM
Drop pod- guess what?! this lot pod in like its 8th ed and ruin somethings day,, using the Vulkan rerolls when possible
Terminator squad: AC teleport in likely close to drop pod
Landspeeder Tornado MM and HF,
Another Landspeeder Tornado MM and HF,
Sniper scouts: With ML either backfield objective campers or deepstrike denial
