So this came up in a game against Custodes. The game was ultimately a loss, but this tactical nugget emerged.
My opponent pointed out that one custodes blob sitting on an objective had access to 'fights first'.
I charged a lone assasin instead, but in such a fashion that on the pile in move, I could pile into that fights first unit. My opponent couldn't activate the unit until I had activated mine because he wasn't in engagement range until after I activated. Thus I circumvented fights first.
If an opponent has a unit without fights first near a unit with fights first, you might similarly be able to circumvent fights first by charging the first unit and piling into the second. Put it in your toolbox. And if you're running units that fight first, Think of this case before putting them right next to other units that don't.
