I've played a number of historical games, back in the 90's; got started in fantasy mass battles games around 1993? Wrote, self-published my own Army Men games, Plastic Wars, starting in 1998, shutting it down in 2007. Hoping to revive it, next year.

Ran local Community Education classes, for adults and children, introducing them to tabletop war games, using my Plastic Wars rules, and Army Men figures, as a hand's-on intro game. They were a huge success with kids, I was always asked to run more classes, to accommodate the kids who wanted to play.

My Plastic Wars rules use d6's, and CRT's to resolve combat. It was, and it still is, the most fun I've ever had with a war game. Still love it, playing with 54mm Army Men, on big tables. Ran my last game on a 12-foot by 30-foot table, with access up the middle. We had 200+ figures per side, Tanks, Mortars, Howitzers, etc. It plays fast, and casualties are quick and decisive. More fun than a Human Being ought to be allowed.

My other passion is 2e BattleSystem: based, loosely, on 2e AD&D RPG game, it is a mass fantasy battle game, with rules for converting just about anything to the game. It's been OOP since 1992, but it is still going strong in my local group. Ran a 28mm game, last year, on a 17-feet by 4-feet table, with 10 players, while I ref'd. Everyone asked to be invited for the next game. I think it was a success!

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Dip'er (The Dip Technique: simple block painting, followed by brushing on, Minwax Polyshades Urethane Stain, to shade the figures). Painted 1,200+ figures for my fantasy armies. Would use Speed Paints 2.0, if I were just starting out, but I'm down to my last 200 figures to paint! Can't switch styles this late in the game. Also a huge fan of Magic Wash: Pledge Floor Shine + Acrylic Paint of your desired wash color. Pledge Floor Shine may be gone, but Acrylic Medium + Colored Acrylic Paint = Magic Wash.

Looking forward to drilling through this site to learn from the hive mind. Cheers!

"The Dakka Dive Bar is the only place you'll hear what's really going on in the underhive. Sure you might not find a good amasec but they grill a mean groxburger. Just watch for ratlings being thrown through windows and you'll be alright." Ciaphas Cain, probably.
