My name is Alistair, i used to play these games a lot back when I was younger....books, magazines, every weekend in the shop....Valhallan ice warriors were my army of choice for the 40k and wood elves for the warhammer.

I popped into the Birmingham store recently and saw they are collaborating with the Scouts and as a scout leader that's pretty cool and i took my kids along and they had a great time. The gave us 10 necrons and 10 space marines, and no instruction of how to actually play the game because apparently as its called WARhammer they don't want to encourage violence or some such nonsense as that. While teaching the kids and re-learning myself we found out that ten necrons with Gauss Flayers reallllllly don't match to space marines with bolters and chainswords and now the kids argue over who gets the necrons. Budget is very very tight in our charity bank account and I won't be allowed to just go out and buy lots of models.
Does anyone also of anywhere to get them really cheap or just offcuts and spares and things that don't get used so the kids can have ago at creating their own?

Thank you!!

Welcome on board!

I've not visited their website in ages since post brexit taxes became a thing, but I used to buy from triple helix wargame or gifts for geeks with decent bargains.

Maybe look for another game too? Or play kill team because it has way less minis?

Anyway, you'll find more and better advice around here!

40k: Necrons/Imperial Guard/ Space marines
Bolt Action: Germany/ USA
Project Z.

Hi there,

Kill team is really a good way to get 40k without the imbalance and codex delays and power creep.

Ebay has lots of people dumping their Necron and Marine sets, as they bu the starter boxes or magazines, but play the other one.
Or, ask for donations, for the same reason. I have some old Marines kits I have not built yet. People have spare Necrons in their equally huge pile of shame.

I heard that GW has schemes to drop product onto Scout and school groups, to get them started.

Hello from Nottingham.

If you are doing it through the scouts, it might be worth contacting GW's school league. I used to run the Warhammer club at my school, and they sent me a literal tonne of stuff over the years.

Welcome to Dakka Dakka! As others have mentioned there are various sources for 2nd hand models. I am often shocked at the ebay prices for kits coming from the U.K. -- it is my go to source for something older and hard to find.

Cheers!
