A quick glance at the first page of threads in "Games Workshop Board Games & Specialist Games" shows quite a number dedicated to Epic, Legions Imperialis, Adeptus Titanicus and AN (seriously I can't keep spelling these names GW!) - at least around 16 whole threads.
Suffice to say I think that there's enough content in there to at the very least open a subsection for 40K 6-8mm gaming. Especially as all 3 games appear to be here to stay for the long term and are quite different to the various 28-32mm various games. Especially with LI being released in a few weeks time which will likely create a lot more interest in threads about the game. Both how to play; what people are doing; the two armies that are present within the core game right now and likely more in the future. Even without Xenos; GW can still work in fully chaos armies (one day come on GW give us corrupted titans and greater demons and demon engines!); Mechanicus and other forces into the game. A section of its own would both encourage content to spread out and not get locked in a mega-thread; but also mean that the game (along with a likely resurgence in AT popularity as the models come back on sale) dominating the section and swamping out BB, Necro, BGF and others.

It's a good idea. I think all of the GW sections are probably due an overhaul, and a 'Legacy 40k' section seems like it might be another reasonable addition right now.

I'd support an Oldhammer/legacy 40k subforum.

Ironically, I find myself being persuaded in the other direction by Commissar Toussaint (from the "Quiet in here" thread):
Commissar von Toussaint wrote:
I like that older edition 40k threads appear alongside current editions. I probably would rarely ever click on just new edition stuff, but seeing the two is nice because sometimes I see something that's "current" but interests me.
One big mistakes of Warseer was that they over-segmented the site, which really crippled efforts to revive the site. When people see dead area after dead area, they move on. I note that we still see a trickle of new people, which is a good thing, and if they came here to argue about 10th ed. and then find themselves slipping into a freshly updated Oldhammer one above it, so much the better.

I'd like a legacy 40k section but Commissar's reply seems very sound.
I think it might be generalistic enough though, and these threads are bound to pop up in the "view recent threads" subforum if they are popular enough.
Half off topic, I sometimes would like to be a Stalker ranking path once it gets its boardgame but that just me being silly

40k: Necrons/Imperial Guard/ Space marines
Bolt Action: Germany/ USA
Project Z.
"The Dakka Dive Bar is the only place you'll hear what's really going on in the underhive. Sure you might not find a good amasec but they grill a mean groxburger. Just watch for ratlings being thrown through windows and you'll be alright." Ciaphas Cain, probably. |

I'd like to nudge this up, esp as Old World is now in the wild for influencers and will soon be in people's hands. Be great to see some new sections appear for these games

Would segmenting GW related subs in the same manner as what warhammer.com does make sense?
Aos
40K
HH (includes LI)
boxed games
legacy editions (everything not currently in production)
?
Ahh, indeed that would "alienate" currenthammer and oldhammer players from each other, right....

We have discussed this backstage and the current thought from Yakface is to wait and see how much discussion takes place on the topic before switching things round. We are looking at adding, contracting and moving various sub forums around but need to see how things shape before taking the plunge into rejigging the forum.
