Hey i am new to all this warhammer stuff. I got digital copies of the codex for my army and the core rulebook so i can get used to the rule system.
I plan on making a T'au gue'vesa army because i like the lore behind the T'au and they would be the only place i would actually want to live in if the lore was real. I have already bought an ethereal and a single firewarrior gue'vesa from etsy. I plan on having a mostly infantry army, with a couple cadre fireblades, piranha, devilfish and maybe a few broadside battlesuits. IDK if that would be a good army or not, but i still wanna make an infantry army work with humans.

I probably won't be able to play for a long time since i live in the middle of nowhere but that is ok because collecting the minis is just as fun to me. I'm going to be moving from the middle of nowhere next year giving me tons of time to get my army started. I will create other threads later for some advice about how to paint them and any suggestions about how i could kitbash something together. I also would love some feedback about the paint once i get them painted, if they look good, because i have never attempted this before and do not want to feth it up. I know in official GW tournaments they probably won't let me play since i have this weird proxy army. But that is fine since those players are probably too good for me anyway, i anticipate getting my ass kicked the first few games by some neckbeards chaos army or his ork army. I am sorta doing this army from scratch too with a bit of a budget, so any advice about how i can save some money would be much appreciated.

Hope you guys can help and its nice to talk to other warhammer players/collectors.

Welcome. Good on you for building a gue'vesa army. It feels more imperial to me, like how in the 19th and early 20th century the colonial powers recruited the natives for cannon fodder.

A quick painting tip: paint for arm's length.
When you play, you'll be viewing the minis from 3-4 feet away. If the figures look good at that distance, you're fine. If you try painting so they look good at about 8-12" inches you'll be busy with details and touch-ups that will not be visible on the table. This is something I wish I'd known when I started.

Actually the Gue'vesa in the lore are not cannon fodder to the T'au. The T'au believe everyone has their place and are treated on the same level as the fire caste. I heard this one lore story where the imperials invaded a T'au world and thought the same thing. But were shocked when the T'au supported their gue'vesa troops like they were their own. Its why i like the T'au. They are sorta the nice guy faction, even though the greater good just means doing whatever the ethereals want. Even when a planet is infected by genestealers, the T'au use gene therapy to cure them because they believe all of them still have their place in the greater good.

Welcome to Dakka Dakka!! It sounds like you are off to a good start. I for one always enjoy an army that has a good hook to it and a Gue'vesa T'au army has one heck of a hook.

Cheers!
