Okay, so I'm rapidly pushing my list to 2k points, with my latest purchase of the classic Boyz boxset I've got up to 1800pts.

Now, I already have a squad of shootas and a squad of sluggas/choppas. I also have two squads of Beast Snagga Boyz with the Thump Gun in each. With this third box of Boyz I'm curious what would be the good idea for my Orks? I themed them around being Mercenaries and I have Kommandos and other shooty models in the list, but I know that choppas are better in the rolls. Now, with 9th edition Klan rules gone, I'm curious if I should make them all Shootas to fit their 'Mercenary' theme, or should I use them to have more melee? (I know they're not the meta, but I'm really trying to make this list Strike Force ready from scratch)


So should I make my third unit of Boyz choppa or Shoota? (Please keep in mind I like to mix and match my squads, so basically it will become an peas vs carrots in each unit choice).


Also, this brings up my second question about their Boss Nob. I have some leftover big choppas as of now I've been putting a Powerklaw on everyone, but this has been adding up to a lot of spares. Should I kitbash the Big Choppa or suck it up and use a Powerklaw? I've ran out of Kombi gunz, but I do have one leftover powerstabba.


I know this sounds like a noobish question, but I'm conflicted if I should actually go towards the meta or just pimp out my third unit of Boyz with what I think is cooler and more rare in my army? I'm very close to my goal, and I'm fine with either way.

You should build them whichever way you think is cooler & fits YOUR army.

Same goes for the klaw/big choppa question.
As for running out of combi weapons? You're an Ork player. As long as you've got enough extra bitz (from any source!) you're never truly out of something.
