Seem to have resolved the bed levelling issue (CR touch added), and first layer adhesion (the CR has helped, ditto an IPA spray to clean prior to a print)

now having another issue, have had it before but not this bad. part of the CR touch install was dealing with a clogged nozzle, removed, new one installed, feed tube replaced at the same time, same material etc.

layer test print was ok, so, foolishly in my innocence I started to print a building, ran for about six hours, then clogged. wasn't watching at the time but examination of the partial print leads me to think it was a gradual nozzle clog, likely the feed roller not gripping right and not retracting very well, then squeezing the PLA to it clogged the tube

to the point of having to cut the tube to get the stuff out

I've had clogs before, usually got a bit longer than six hours.. previous one went for a couple of months before it blocked

will be trying again tomorrow with a new nozzle, new tube and a new spool - the other one has been open a few months.

Q: if a spool has been open a few months, does it expand slightly?

Q: is a direct drive upgrade worth a look?

update: must have been moisture in the PLA on the spool, swapped to a new spool and haven't had any issues since (nearly two spools later)

well no issues with clogging.

getting some slightly odd results, I'm printing some buildings for Epic scale, which include a tiled floor pattern. the tiles seem to print as a spiral going inwards, then on to the next

so far I have had near perfect results, as it its near totally flat and a waft of a heat gun and it is totally flat, some where the spiral shows (I don't have a problem with this) and some where its like the nozzle is digging in and dragging across the surface.

this is with the CR touch installed, now I have found one half of the bed is a lot worse than the other, and notice the CR touch is quite offset from the nozzle horizontally - the issue is the side the CR touch doesn't get to - here the tile pattern rips more

but this is the curious thing, not always, I'm not aware of changing settings but printed some base tiles which printed perfectly yesterday, today a building one is ripping on the side again

has anyone had anything similar?

note the models do print, just with a somewhat torn horizontal surface, vertical structures print fine so it appears to be where the nozzle is dragging over - I've tried a Z-Hop, which didn't really help, if anything it made the good tiles worse, I've tried with combing enabled, which makes the good tiles far better but so far has shown able to print the same file twice, once perfectly and once with ripping..

this is what makes me think its not the slider or printer settings as its literally the same file

open to any suggestions

Try tighten bed levelling (because level can change after getting hot).
Or adjust level during printing start (at first layers)

cheers, may have to have a look at this. I've replaced the springs with the solid rubber ones, slightly compressed. I think the bed is warped at that side and avoid using that part of the bed, just the bit the CR touch covers

did used to crank the bed down quarter turn that side as it was obviously printing thinner there
