Hi there!

I recently acquired 3 Montana (www .montana-cans.com) spray cans: Primer (Application: universal, Color: white), Metallic (Color: black), and Varnish (Type: transparent, Gloss level: semi-gloss), all acrylic based, to paint a body of an electric guitar. Please check the pictures (URLs) bellow.

First, I applied a total of 4 coats of Prime, let them dry for more than 24h, and got a perferct finish.
Then, I applied another 4 coats of Metallic, let them dry for more than 24h, and also got a perferct finish.
Finally, I applied another 4 coats of Varnish, let them dry for more than 24h, and some parts got an whitish look, meaning, the Varnish on those areas didn't kept it's transparency.

My questions are:
1) Do you have any ideia on what went wrong?
2) Should I apply more Varnish coats in order to mask these whitish areas?
3) or, alternativelly, should I polish the Varnish in order do eliminate those whitish areas?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like varnish frosting

as the above link suggests, it can usually be fixed by applying a gloss varnish. When it has happened to me a coat of gloss varnish applied with a brush has got rid of the frosting.

Thank you for your answer!

I think you're absolutely right!!

It's the "blushing", “foggy” or “frosting” effect of sprayed varnish!

I painted in an exterior garage, in a low temperature and high humidity night!

I'll try to rectify it by polishing it!
