Hi folks, just came from a game where I was trying a bomber for the first time and we're trying to figure out how to determine which enemy units are eligible to drop bombs on.
Looking around online the threads I came across are all a couple years old and seem to be related to 9th ed so I was hoping there might be some more recent info.

Question: If my wing crosses an enemy model/base can I drop bombs on them, or does it need to be my base?

Relevant Rules:
"select one enemy unit it moved over during that move" - Ork Burna Bommer
"it's models can be moved over enemy models as if they were not there... models that can fly can be moved over other Monster and Vehicle models when making such a move" - core rules "fly"

Something that makes me think the wings would be counted (if this logic works both ways).
"A model's base is always considered to be part of the model" - Core rules "base"

Something against the wings being counted (base is always called out as relevant for movement).
"... all parts of the model's base must end the move at least this far from where they started... if any part of an Aircraft model's base crosses the edge of the battlefield" - Core rules "aircraft"

The rules for the "Boom Bomb" say "Boom Bomb: Each time this model ends a Normal move, you can select one enemy unit it moved over during that move..."

So it goes off of "this model" which includes the wings, tail, antennas' spiky bitz, etc...

I'd prefer to interpret it that way too, but are there any official rulings anywhere? Is that how it's generally played at events?

Also does that mean that a wing overhanging an enemy model would count as 'on top" of enemy models, preventing you from ending a move in that position?

For the edge of the battlefield, there is a difference between the Base of the Model and the Model itself. Not all parts of the model are considered the base, but all of the base is considered part of the model.

Dropping bombs only cares about the model, not the base, so any part of the model counts.

Think of it as the following,

A=Model

B=Base

All B = A, but not all A = B.

Bombs only care about dropping from A. So they can drop from B, because B is A. But they can also drop from parts of A that are not B.

Thanks for the explanations both of ya, I got this answer from the local GW too so I guess it's just me being too cautious when reading.

if a model is not touching another model it is not "on top" it may be over or above the model, but that does not = "On top"
