Q: what is the length of the Aeronautica model of a Lightning Strike fighter, Thunderbolt and Avenger?

have some 3d files, the size of which is dubious, and wanting to check the scaling

Don't know about the others, but the Lighting is 2" nose to tail & 2.5" wingtip to wingtip.

A lot of files are 6mm, so 20-30% is usually an ok rule of thumb, some planes have surprisingly wide wing spans. If you check out aeronautica reddits/youtube you can find exact wingspan measurements.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

the problem is files that are either 8mm, but labelled as 6mm so can easily be "double scaled", ones that are labelled 8mm, but are "6mm heroic", combined with ones that drop to the build plate as about 2mm scale or something similar with no idea what to actually scale it to be be correct..

have some Lightning strike fighters that don't fit a 6" bed of a Mars 3, and some more that are microscopic..

printed at 2" length they come out lovely though

Well as a baseline wing spans range from about 100mm down to maybe 50-55 on a xiphon, smallest flyers is arvus by far, but it almost looks 6mm at 8mm so there's latitude there.

One thing you can take solace in is that, the only thing that matters really is the 40mm base unless you switch into hover mode, if you even can, xiphones and most solar aux planes can't. Meaning los is never an issue because everything is always in los anyway for those without the ability to switch to hover.

Planes are the easiest thing to proxy for that reason, again without hover mode. Hover mode they basically become skimmers but los matters and they are whre they are on stand and take up the space they do los-wise.

If you can just find a photo of someone's air wing/army wide shot of someone's marines, they're good for scale comparison/troubleshooting,

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.
