TLDR: does a leader gain the benefits of a unit ability?
so, does a character with the leader ability gain the abilities of the unit he is leading?
the leader rule reads (emphasis mine):
While a Bodyguard unit contains a Leader, it is known as an Attached unit and, with the exception of rules that are triggered when units are destroyed (pg 12), it is treated as a single unit for all rules purposes.
so, if, for a example, a space marine character joins a Assault Intercessor unit, which has the rule:
Shock Assault: Each time a model in this unit targets an enemy unit with a melee attack, re-roll a Wound roll of 1. If that enemy unit is within range of an objective marker, you can re-roll the Wound roll instead.
the character would also gain that ability, yes? im pretty sure they do, just making sure I'm parsing this correctly.
I understand that abilites like Deep Strike, etc are
not transient like this, and the character would also need the deep strike ability, to allow the unit to deep strike, but it seems like the only possible reading of the the relevant rules would be the character gains the unit ability.
