As I go down the 25 year plus rabbit hole of my model box, I was thinking of doing something with these?
Forgot to add.. any hints on stripping?

I've never had a problem with Dettol, especially on metal models. I've used it on plastic models too, with no issue. I hear that Dettol on resin models is not a good idea.
I just stick the models in a pool of Dettol and leave them there for 24 hours. You can get away with less than 24 hours, though that means it'll be tougher to scrub the paint off.
There are guides on the internet which are worth reading if you don't have experience with Dettol. One key tip is not to scrub the paint of using water, use washing up liquid instead. This is all detailed in the guides.
One example of a good guide for Dettol: https://realmofchaos80s.blogspot.com/2014/01/how-to-use-dettol-to-best-clean-up.html

Thanks! I'll try it.. vack in the day someone suggested brake fluid, but I'm a tad wary of using it.

Yeah, don't use brake fluid. Not only is it overkill it's a toxic substance which needs to be disposed of responsibly (not just thrown down the sink).
Not that I'm saying that Dettol is the be all and end all. Some people don't like it and prefer other substances, isopropyl alcohol being one option that many people prefer over Dettol. I only suggest Dettol because it's all I've ever used and haven't had issues with it.

Dettol will strip it, but don't use water to wash off the loose paint or it turn into a goopy, sticky mess. Leave the mini submerged overnight, then use more Dettol with a old tooth brush until the paint is gone and then use soap and water.
The problem with it is that has a very strong anti-septic smell and prolonged exposure can damage your skin, so wear gloves.
I've heard good things about Biostrip 20. They even advertise it as a paint stripper for miniatures. I'll be trying it myself next time.

Used both GSW and ak interactive paint strippers, and it worked well in both cases. GSW iteration If the products requires you to sink the minis for a while though, so it's a bit longer. That is, if the paints you used were acrylics, as I suppose.
I tested Brake Fluid out of curiosity on spare bits and yes, it does damage the model, especially by melting the details of it.

Just use methylated spirits, it's great and works quicker than dettol. Cheaper too

Paint Blitzer from UTB hobbies is what you want. You're in the UK so it's dead easy to get as they are also UK based. Strips everything I've used it on safely.

I use isopropyl alcohol to strip my minis, it's a bit of a pain to get tough (you have to go into a chemist) but I've never had any issues with it
