Hi , After a very long time away from the game (25yrs plus) I have resumed activities. I havent played since 2nd edition. I will continue to play 2nd edition rules until I wrap my head around everything, as my mate, ( who has every known army from that edition and more) still continues to play 2nd edition.

My question is can I use later version troops / equipment from the 4th edition etc in a 2nd edition army list? EG . Can I add an Ork Bomba to my 2nd edition army list?

2nd edition has an Ork Battlewagon for 50 points , 4th edition has an Ork Battlewagon for 120 points . Can I take the 4th edition Ork Battlewagon using those 4th edition stats in a 2nd edition army list .

Cheers

If you're playing with friends you can do pretty much whatever you like, as long as everyone is happy with it.

The change from 2nd edition to future editions was very big. Vehicles especially have very different rules so you'll find that you can't simply uplift a 4th edition Battlewagon and move it to 2nd edition.

I'm not clear on why you want to use 4th edition rules for Battlewagons when 2nd edition rules already exist?

It will be interesting to see how you feel about later editions of 40K if you ever go for a later edition than 2nd edition. Personally I have fond memories of 2nd edition. My memories of trying to resolve close combat in large games are far from fond though

You head the nail on the head . The rules are very differant between these 2 editions, so I dont want to use 4th edition figures / vehicles that are overpwered against 2nd edition opposition.

We are definately moving into later editions as I progress with everything.

Best bet is to look at the latest edition and forget everything you know about 2nd, it is a completely different game and should be treated as such.

Not really. 2nd to 3rd was a radical shift, incompatible with each other.
3rd to 7th was same skeleton, so technically compatible, though you might have issues with combining WAY across. Still, some people had 5th edition Dexes in 7th edition, I think.
7th to 8th was another radical change.
8th to 9th was same skeleton.
And 9th to 10th is a less radical change, but still sufficient to warrant Indecs for every army.

No, barring house rules you use the rules for whatever edition you're playing.
So it doesn't matter what a battlewagon costs or does in 4e if you're playing 2e.
