Hi all,

I’ve bought a whole ton of kits this past few months in anticipation of making a Dark Angels army.

My first Space Marine will be the Captain with Jump Pack and I am wondering what kind of armour that model is wearing? Is it Phobos, Gravis or Tacticus? I have no idea how to tell the difference.

I need to know so I can use the correct shoulder pad from the new upgrade sprue for Dark Angels. While I am on the subject, what else from that sprue would ‘fit’ with this model? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to build this guy to submit in the upcoming painting challenge.

The datasheet has the keyword Tacticus, so that’s the armour type.

As for how to tell based on the model, gravis armour is chunkier, especially the legs and have some armour that extends up from the gorget behind the head (compare Intercessors models to heavy Intercessors if you want a visual comparison).

Phobos armour is lighter and the most obvious visual indicator is one pauldron is smaller than the other and doesn’t have any trim. Take a look at Reivers or Incursors as examples.

Hope this helps.
