It will allow you more freedom than the tiles. It will let you play 6x4 and 5x4/4x4 for smaller games.
I also wouldn't recommend pigeon holing oneself into only urban environments. Structures that aren't occupied are treated as open terrain to infantry, and it can lead to some less than desirable outcomes game-wise as infantry can march 15 inches or charge 10 inches, and they can do this out of
los on account of just melting right through un-occupied structures like they're not even there.
So a good variety of big impassable terrain and area terrain is worthwhile to have in addition to structures.

Hadn't seen that mat before, thanks. Though, how do you reckon it has more freedom than the tiles? - can easily make a 4x4 with the tiles and can at least switch them around to make different setups of the roads etc? At least that was my thinking. Lack of 6x4 is a definite downside, but I have other mats and scenery I can use to run games of that size however.
Totally agree about not being pigeon holed into just urban, as I said in the
OP I have other mats and terrain bits I can use in 6/8/10mm. But for me terrain is as important as the models, and I like having themed "sets" of scenery and I definitely want one properly urban - siege of Terra - setup for
LI /
AT. Just trying to work out how best to bring it to life without scratch building everything!

The one small shop where we play has a generic green drop cloth + 1 urban 40k mat. And a good amount of 15mm WWII terrain.
We just change the scale of the terrain we use.
The other larger shop has dozens of different mats in all colors/patterns/sizes.
Sadly they don't have any LI specific/15mm scale terrain.
At home I've got a number of mats & all kinds of terrain.
I've got stuff that works. Even if it's not LI specific.
Fair enough for you, however I do see the need - I mean not "need" really more just something you know, for me, that I want to do. Question isn't should I do it, its just how best can i do this? - had been hoping there might have been folks who've done similar who might have had advise...
