So I did pick up the Deathwing Assault box set when it launched, but I didn't want another green army after my Necrons and Sisters, so I did some digging and found that the Angels Redeemed use the same iconography. So why not paint stuff up in red and black?



I started with some Intercessors just to try the scheme out. I actually used Army Painter (not the new ones) paints on this - Dragon Red, Pure Red and Matt Black. They worked well in the airbrush and Matt Black behaved fairly well off the brush, I feel like I picked the good paints in the old range.

Anyways, on to some Terminators!



Really happy with how these lads turned out, though the digital pictures washed out the green eyes and sensors. Digital photography can be a pain sometimes!



I really like the new Terminator models. They're beefy and have less edge highlights than Gravis armor.

This is probably going to be a slow burn project. I'd like to do some more non-Terminator models next, my Grey Knight Christmas project burned me a little bit out on Terminators. But there's something deeply satisfying painting a nice red color, I'm enjoying the scheme a lot.

Looking very nice! Red is always good, and those angels sure still have anger issues and secrets to hide, regardless of colour

Great tone of red on these ones, and super crisp finishes! Wish I could pull off this level of neatness with my own angels one day..

Not really? I generally don't unless I'm doing a speedpaint project. Obviously I have the Deathwing Assault box so 2x5 Termies, 1x5 Deathwing Knights and Belial are on the table. I'll get some basic trooper marines (Intercessors, Infiltrators) and maybe some Hellblasters in there, and I'm thinking that my Boarding Patrol Space Marines box would round out the 'regulars' and I can build from there. At this point I'm like "What can I build without buying more DA upgrade sprues?"

This was Dark Angels Lieutenant Zakariah, using a power fist from the Assault Intercessors and a head from the Dark Angels upgrade sprue. I'm not 100% on the leather robes, but I think black would have been too much and going with a bright color would have detracted from the red, especially given how bright the base is. Especially since I can slap a hood on any model, if I go with bright robes it'll stand out like the sun.
