So the idea was to make a formation for knights that would allow armigers and moirax to operate as their own detachments. The original plan was to just re-name a marine command squad and call it a day for the HQ tax model, but I figured since nothing yet has battlesmith, may as well make the model a bit unique. It can't join another detachment so it operates on its own, not particularly hard to kill for artillery or flyers so the plan is mostly to have it a backfield support. The formation allows armiger and moirax to no longer have to be tethered to the knight that purchased them. The point cost for the Magos is a bit of a crapshoot as always, I wanted it to be a tax but not too burdensome as its not like this is a formation that's easy to spam.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

A gesture that is certainly appreciated. Can't think of anything to add but to say that the Magos would make for an interesting kitbash project.

So far this game has felt like a slap in the face to Knight Houses, after waiting so long, and its been hard to find enthusiasim for it.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

I wanted to keep it pretty simple, a frustration is no matter what is done stat wise he's likely just always going to be easy to kill on account of how artillery and flyers work. Battlesmith is a bit weird, I may still just change him to have the shield generator 5+ rule. Might also make rules for adsecularis or something along those line, very similar to solar aux troop, just a detachment he good join to not get picked out.

Well, the one thing I didn't like was forcing armigers and moirax to be attached at the hip by 6 inches. I'll say its done knights a better service than in titanicus. I think they and titans are more a victim of the games rather streamlined close combat system.

30% was the right call though, otherwise you'd ruin the game imo, at least any attempt at combined arms. I know we've talked about it before but all knight armies were one of the least fondest memories of 40k and just as absurd in 30k and I don't mean fluff wise, just game-wise.

That said, been talking to a few opponents about a spinoff/expansion similar to titan death but more contained and focussed, call it titan clash I guess but idea is pretty straight forward:

Agree to a mirror match list in terms of titans and knights, I mean only in composition/points not weaponry as weapons largerly don't cost extra with a few exceptions for knights. Then make a 1k list of li stuff, marines or aux.

Example with just titans:

2090pts (warlord, reaver, reaver, warhound, warhound) + 1000pts army

The titans and or knights deploy, the armies of both sides start in reserve and can come in starting turn 2.

Its not perfect given the mirror match stutff, its just the only way to make activations work and limit stuff like psi titans warmasters to only when both sides have them. You could try and just set a point limit worth of titans and knights if you dont' like the mirror match thing, but how well points will come together and activations can get more out of sync.

As we've already covered this ground before I'd much rather explore new ground together; did you purchase The Great Slaughter, and if so how do you feel about the Titan-Knight mode being a possible replacement for Adeptus Titanicus, should GW drop support for it?

Sadly titandeath is not great, has some ok ideas but it's pretty threadbare.

See, the thing is that GW could easily discontinue Titanicus at any time going forward, as they only have to repackage the affected kits by removing one or two card sheets.

Its in this regard I'm glad I cut off buying more stuff for Titanicus when I did, otherwise I'd have a load of titans sitting on the shelf gathering dust...

It's pretty much dead IMO. At least here.

Hmm, what about a whole list for the forces of the Knight Household? They tend to have their own foot troops as well. Oh, and they also have Huntsmen Tanks, which are basically Leman Russ Battle Tanks with Inferno Cannons!

I think I'd go the count-as route and use solar aux/marine units and proxy with mechanicum ones.

Snap. My local shops haven't had anything for it neither, nor hosting games. Its got to the point where I end up hosting games at my house, and even then its been a few weeks since we last played it.

In fact its been so quiet on the AT front that I decided to start over with 40K instead...
