So my wife is a mom for the second year now, and last year, I got a bad gift. A device (Women hate DEVICES). I am plum out of ideas. We have a garden we want to introduce the little one two this summer, so I felt something nature related, but I'm drawing a creative blank. Any really awesome gift givers out there with really great hints?

Thanks in advance!

With the garden thing? Maybe pots, compost/soil with seeds/seedlings for a veg patch? Something all of you can do together, and eventually get a meal out of to - which of course you should prepare.

Could even get Flower seeds so the Smol Peeple can grow their Mum flowers?

Depending on your overall lifestyle, A Day To Herself with her favourite beverage (booze or not booze), book or hobby etc. As in, you take the Smol Peeple out for the day, and she gets the whole day off to indulge herself. Celebrate motherhood with a day of…..not being a parent.

There are pitfalls to these of course as whilst well intentioned everyone is different,

i can definitely think of a few devices that women love but they probably wouldn't be one of the best gifts coming from one of the kids.

things that have worked for me in the past... breakfast in bed or a meal is always fun, especially if the kids help and it gets "creative". gift cards to something like a spa or massage, nails, hair etc.
plain old dinner out somewhere.
after 20 something years now i just ask her what she wants... lol

I'd suggest a birdbath, or a cool bit of statuary for the garden.

Or.... if you're wife is of the gothic inclination, a bat house and a pole for it is an amazing project. My wife got me one for christmas a few years back. It is so cool, and reduces mosquitoes.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.

Seeds that you can plant together in the garden as a family.

Some thoughts:

My wife likes things that tie into the larger family and a shared experience together.

If the kids are too young to be really choosing and buying things on their own you could always go with something they've made for their mother for the occasion. A painting, drawing, card or such.

Arts and crafts and something more personal than just free time or an off the shelf gift.

After that mothers days are very different group to group; for some a few flowers, chocolates and perhaps a meal out is all that's done; others its like second-birthday and for others its not really anything.

I've had some great results with Cameo for both Mother and Father's day. Mom's favorite Hallmark actress was on there as well as Dad's favorite quarterback. It is a little off putting/consoomerist to pay someone for a video like that especially considering some of the prices but in my case they have been worth it. They show the vid to all of their friends and still mention it long after, which they haven't for other gifts.

On there, generally the more fame the person has, the more expensive the video. The less fame they have, the longer/better the video, with some exceptions of course. The QB was one of the most expensive and did the bare minimum. My dad still absolutely loved it. Many of the waifus from the "Geek Media" subforum are on there as well if that is something that interests you
