This is my first time ever using a forum before, so please bare with me.

I recently decided that I'm going to make a GSC army so that I can finally get a few games in with my friend who introduced me and several others to 40k and then everyone else just didn't paint their armies.

I want to do a winter/artic theme for these gene stealers and really make them look like they live on a cold ice planet. To sell this I want to add things like treads plows to their vehicles. I have searched far and wide to find something that would turn the Atalan Jackals bikes into snow bikes, but I'm still fairly new to the hobby as a whole and don't really know where to find something that would fit the back of the bikes.

So I'm here asking anyone if they can help, any kits from anywhere. I'm not a GW purist or anything when it comes to my models. I haven't worked with green stuff a lot either, but I'm willing to try that too if you have links to tutorials/videos on how to do that.

There isn't really a time constraint on this. I've still gotta finish some space marine kits for my own army, but any help is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forums and good luck with your conversion attempts.

What sort of modelling level are you at? Can help in what sort of advice you get. You mention you have not done a lot of greenstuff work so likely you are looking for options to glue in place rather than having to do a lot of sculpting to fit parts?

Do you have some rough ideas on what you would like them to look like when finished? Photos for reference can help you try to match parts.

If you could get your hands on some of the old Ork Skorcha/War Trakk vehicles they may provide some treads, but I am not sure how they would scale with the Jackal's bikes.

Like I've said, I only really just got into the hobby last year. While I can paint pretty well, most I've ever used green stuff for is making sure some arms have something to stay stuck to and a very poor attempt at a fur cloak when I first got the stuff. I only mentioned it cause I remember seeing a video way back of someone stuffing it into a mold to duplicate sandbags and press them up against a model to give them weight.

You asking that though has reminded me that I have (for some reason, think I got it in a bits lot) a single tank tread bottom. It's small enough to fit what I'd need. Maybe I could buy some blue stuff to make a mold of it and do something similar to what I saw with those sandbags and sculpt it around the back tire to make it look like a full blown tread? That could work, and it would just bring the problem down to finding small wheels/gears to fit together inside the tread.

I don't think that would be too difficult to make, just time consuming.

This was what I had in mind for the bikes, the back being all tread and the front having the wheel with the ski(?) under it, like it was a conversion made to bike to adapt to the snowy environment.

Thank you for your help! Even though this was me yappin on about how to go about it, you've actually given me some hope of completing this conversion. When I'd first thought of the idea, I was shocked that I couldn't find anything like what I'd wanted to do online.

Hotwheels Snow Ride might be the right scale or close enough to take the skies and tracks.

The track part is metal so might be tough to hack apart.

you could also look for some of th original imperila guard tank kits and use the sprokets and tracks to build as set but hiring a sculptor might be cheaper lol

I think you may find using chainswords for the tracks would work? They are plastic and easier to work with. Just file down the pointing bitz a bit.
