had a game of this tonight.

its Flames of War V4 on "easy mode", stripping out anything thats not tanks but basically the same rules

the main effect of this is makes the rubbish morale rules matter less as you don't have huge infantry blocks that by the time they even test are worthless.

you also don't have the "I see you, you are now dead" of Team Yankee as a lot of stuff has enough frontal armour to make movement and facing actually matter

the writers are however deeply wedded to the idea that the Soviets are the Zerg, not allowed experience crews and crippled from using some tactics as a result.

also looks reasonably easy to lift & drop a WW2 force into this with a few new units or even back port the stuff into WW2

the scenario cards are good, the objective cards add an interesting touch and the tactics cards are ok, not too game breaking

force size is limited to stop horde spam to some level and with only tanks horde spam starts to be limited in value. - though as I found if you have a block of Soviet armour that cannot hurt the enemy from the front, and when moving cannot hit anything there is essentially zero reason not to put your foot down and move quite quickly.

overall, its not bad, take the part of you asking "where is the artillery and air support?" give it a drink of something and tell it to be quiet, rationalise that however - likewise assume the infantry are busy elsewhere and enjoy it. its not the best tank v tank game, but its also not the worst and the starter set is a very well thought through package

hope to play it again
