How can we discuss anything ever if we are constantly threatened the moment we just give our opinion or share some insight in relevant feudal culture.
I've seen posts of mine literally disappear while they contained nothing inflammatory or political.. one of which spoke of my very own heritage factually to an aspect of this Japanese history.

Either close this topic stating "this topic is wholly political because samuraj status is political" or let us discuss things politely and maturely without having to feel like we're walking on the eggshells of a moderators personal opinion. Also, the tone used against users is extremely offensive, I have not seen any reason to shout anyone down here, it comes off as thought-policing and I have contacted an admin about this -threatening- atmosphere I have noticed in other threads too, but in particular against me. (I have pmed the mod in question asking for specifications before, with no response' after which I again am being targetted with threats for something I didn't even do, nor could without knowing what I did "wrong(think)" the first time.

So this may sound corny, but I have been bullied enough in my life to say it here again to that mod; stop bullying me.

And stop bullying other users in this well balanced and mature discussion.

Hi,

You seem confused so let me break it down for you. The line of discussion which was told to stop and was deleted due to being off topic was about diversity and inclusion in the Japanese computer game industry, a tangent that has no bearing on the subject or OP of this thread and one that is not allowed on this site due to our ban on politics.

A moderators job 'is' to control the discussion when it violates the rules of this site that everyone who makes an account here agrees to abide by, specifically in this instance rule 2;

Rule 2: Stay on Topic
After reading and posting at Dakka for awhile you may feel as though you have developed friendships with some, perhaps many, of the other posters and readers. This is probably one of the most rewarding parts of participating in a discussion area. It is only natural to occasionally want to share information with your friends that is "Off Topic" (i.e. not related to the subject matter of the forum you are in).

While it may at first seem harmless to post a bit about off topic (OT) subjects, it can become a slippery slope. If others join in on OT posts then soon everybody has sent the discussion threads on so many tangents that it is difficult to follow the original topic. Further, posting off topic essentially violates Rule #1. People come to Dakka looking for information related to the hobby. It is not polite to post off topic items frequently.

If you wish to discuss a topic that doesn't pertain to wargaming, it should be started in the "Off-Topic" forum.

You might not like it but that is the rule quoted in full from here - https://www.dakkadakka.com/core/forum_rules.jsp

Enforcement of the rules is in no way 'bullying' you or anyone else, it is simply my, and other moderators job. When a thread drifts OT it is told to stay on track, if people then violate this the offending posts are removed and if warranted, sanctions are handed out against the users involved. This is the job of moderating this site. Generally if a topic is derailed with another that merits discussion then users would be directed to create a new thread for it but as the derailment is on a banned subject then that is not possible. You will note that the OP of this thread came from the derailment of the 'Jeebus Rice Facebook is beyond useless' thread for example.

As a side note if you have an issue with the sites moderation then one should message Yakface, as Legoburner only deals with the mechanical aspect of the site, or one should post in the N&B section of this site, not derail a thread.

I am sorry if I missed your PM, I do not have any that are unreplied to in my inbox, feel free to resend it and I will reply.

I am not "confused", I pmed you the first time you stated that I was quote "derailing topics" and discussing politics when I was not, in fact' I responded to a single post in the midst of like 100 posts that actually were discussing politics but were not even mentioned, then I find you -editting- my posts on something that wasn't political either but simply my suspection on what the reason was that yasuke replaced the original storyboard and character, which was factual'.

Still, I disregard such.. but still asked you to specify why you were suddenly in my face, and do note you weren't acting as "kindly" as you are trying to seem with this post of yours, you practically whipped me in the face with a wet towel without any further context given.

And now I see you do the same to others in this thread.

You may think that moderating entails making it (literally) impossible for people to say whatever you do not like (by editting and/or deleting postings), but moderating as the word entails would refer to keeping the discussion's -atmosphere- MODERATE in the stead of people throwing insults etc.

Again, noone here has been discussing politics in this topic other than the -ontopic- politics of the specific era which is the entire point of the yasuke outrage subject.

I would think as obviously does everyone here that there is a difference between such and realtime politics.

DEI itself is not politics, the organization behind DEI itself states this literally (although it adds that it "can be politicized" which is a different thing)
what DEI (as a topic, and relevantly so) is about is simply the subject of using media for activism, which 'can be politically motivated' but doesn't necessarily have to be. If we cannot discuss such things then do not allow this thread in the first place because you cannot in any way manouver yourself around the politics of the shogunate while discussing wether yasuke was a samuraj or not, unless with discussing politics you mean disagreeing with something as this entire thread consists, again, of discussing the shogunate "politics" by default.

You didn't miss my PM, it's in my sentbox and it wasn't replied to.

Just stop deleting text and stop shouting people down, if you think someone is "breaking rules" (which I doubt) then use some civil tone to explain what exactly they are doing wrong, if they are actually doing something wrong.

Also for the record you have made me feel very much rejected in this community with your approach as much as that I think other users may feel the same way here.

Moving this to the correct section, I will respond shortly when I move to a pc.

Tengu being Jewish is not factual, its a conspiracy theory, and the rest of the post that was edited was about modern inclusivity.

Still, I disregard such.. but still asked you to specify why you were suddenly in my face, and do note you weren't acting as "kindly" as you are trying to seem with this post of yours, you practically whipped me in the face with a wet towel without any further context given.

Ah, so its about politics then? Something we do not allow here as we all know.

Lets get back on topic.

This is my first post in that thread, if you think that is whipping people in the face with a wet towel then I really do not know what to tell you.

That may be your interpretation, it is not that of the sites owners who have tasked us to make sure that people follow all of the rules set down for the site.

Again, noone here has been discussing politics in this topic other than the -ontopic- politics of the specific era which is the entire point of the yasuke outrage subject.

People, including yourself, were discuss inclusivity in the Japanese computer game industry which was the line of discussion that was shut down, that is political and it has nothing to do with historical context, quite the contrary, it is trying to impose modern norms upon a historical story.

You didn't miss my PM, it's in my sentbox and it wasn't replied to.

Yes, I did. My next PM to you shows it ticked as replied too which is why I did not realise I had not responded, this might surprise you but we get quite alot of PMs and things can fall between the cracks. I can send you a reply to your query now if you wish.

Just stop deleting text and stop shouting people down, if you think someone is "breaking rules" (which I doubt) then use some civil tone to explain what exactly they are doing wrong, if they are actually doing something wrong.

No, I will continue to enforce the rules of the site as set down by its owners. My first reply in that thread was totally mild and anyone would be hard pressed to construe that as uncivil, because people chose to continue breaking the rules I made a slightly sterner reply of;
 ingtaer wrote:
Seriously now, knock off the political by play and stick to the topic or have some time off.

and if you see that one as uncivil then I apologize but it really isn't. If people do not want to get warned then they should not break the rules and I mean that in general not directed at you in particular.

To be honest it seems that as I have been the one to respond to most of the user alerts you have generated that you have developed the idea that I am somehow persecuting you or have it in for you, this is not the case, it is simply a by product of the times we are on and the tiny amount of staff we have.
