I rather like mapping things. 2 years ago I tried mapping the 40k galaxy with the understanding that Imperium sectors were square and didn't really touch each other. And I was also trying to include the major Ork Empires and Necron Dynasts, and War Rifts. And I'd also use symbols to indicate planet types, and colors to indicate which race owned the planet or system. I missed some things and made some mistakes, but had lots of fun doing it. And so this was my first attempt:

Then earlier this year I tried fixing and adding a lot of things to the map. And I tried doing a closeup of Calixis sector, Screaming Vortex and Koronous Expanse, yet I still didn't get all the planets for Calixis sector, damn that place!

If I do a third edition of the map (and thats a big if) maybe I just won't do the Segmentum lines and instead have the sector squares be in different colors for each segmentum. And I won't bother with any closeups, I'll just accept that I won't be able to show every single planet for some sectors.

This is great.
Problem I have had over the last 30 years is stuff keeps moving on their maps, especially the maelstrom which can be anywhere from south of the galactic core to almost due east of it, and yours has it in the center (I haven't looked at 10th edition maps in awhile so it may have shifted again)

I looked at various official maps, and hit the 40k wikis real hard.

When a planet didn't have a designated sector or segmentum then I'd just place it wherever.

That's amazing... I can't imagine the effort that went into all that work.
