Over 20 years ago I stumbled upon this little book in a game store. It allows the use of any historical or fantasy army up to gothic horror. I stopped playing it some time ago but recently revisited it with my nephews.

There is a 3rd edition available now but the army builder file I have is from 2nd edition which is why I used that version. I think both versions are excellent.

The main appeal is that it allows you to create the story because it has no lore. If you want to fight the battle from the movie Narnia, or something from Game of Thrones, or LOTR, or Conan, or Black Company, etc. it is perfectly doable with a little imagination from you and an understanding of how the rules work.

I am not affiliated with the company although I did share this link to the author on Facebook and he commented. I just really had a lot of fun playing this game over the years.
