Glad to see they gave Geralt a well deserved rest after TW3 and particularly Blood and Wine where he gets to retire in peace with either Yennefer or Triss depending on what you ended up choosing. Curious to see what the political climate looks like now in the Northern Kingdoms and if Nilfgard is still trying to annex it or if they've already succeeded at this point. Will need to see gameplay first (can't forget the launch of Cyberpunk 2077) but I'm optimistic for the most part. Happy to play Ciri as well since she was the natural progression of the story past Geralt, unless they had a completely new witcher character. Personally glad there isn't a customizable one, since like Overread said, it's heavily narrative driven and I'd much prefer a clear cut character rather than "insert blank character #69".

Agreed, a fixed character is best for such a focused story. I'll miss Geralt with his good heart under the disguise of cynicism and indifference, but I believe Ciri will have an apropriately written story that fits her.
Btw, my wife and me are right now in the middle of our third playthrough of the Wild Hunt. The game is still absolutely awesome, almost 10 years later.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I just hope Geralt enjoys his retirement in his vineyard in Toussaint and we'll get to visit him and that he doesn't suffer the same fate as Joel

People have largely forgotten that Witcher 3 was kind of a mess at launch as well.
True, but I don't feel like it was to the degree of Cyberpunk, especially considering how hyped it was as a proper next gen game.
Some of that is just the plucky underdog factor. CDPR was still relatively unknow, as was Witcher as a franchise and people saw enough potential to be excited to see what they could build given grace. This was also before the culture of unfinished early access had soured the market.
Looked fun - good fight and not a single fething stupid Bard

Nice, I was getting the itch for another Witcher 3 playthrough a few days ago and re-installed.
Then global crossplay came for Insurgency: Sandstorm and I've been dominating the X-box and Playstation plebs. A big patch dropped for Rogue Trader this week. Then new DLC for Warhammer 3 dropped yesterday...
I will find time before this game drops in a year or so.

It can vary a lot - the Okami video during the event was basically "We just started work on it". Also when a release is far enough that they aren't putting a date on things, a lot of things can happen which delays the launch date.

I won't be surprised if I get to play it on PS7 Or is there any info about the release date?
I was being generous/hopeful.
Probably 3 years minimum.

The real news there is we now know Kamiya left Platinum in order to restart Clover at Capcom.
Do they have an actual purpose - as the Fether is beyond tedious and annoying in the tv show

Bards are just hype men. Those aren't loved and it's honestly kind of a strange concept in the modern world.
I guess the modern equivalent would be someone glazing Kobe or Messi or whomever across social media. I don't think there is a musical equivalent anymore.

DJ Kaled. Hype Man, Producer, Musician... he's pretty much a modern day bard.

I thought the trailer looked really good. Tonally speaking it's right up my alley, so much so that I'm gonna give Witcher 3 one more shot. I've tried a couple times since its release to get into it and just couldn't, maybe this time it'll hook me.
I'm not at all surprised the internet is already taking shots at the trailer for 'wokeism.' The culture war is seriously exhausting.

From the perspective as someone that never liked Ciri.
In Witcher 3 she was obviously sexed up. She had stripperific high heel boots, excessive make up for the setting, and pointless cleavage. Her facial structure was also pretty much generic attractive woman.
All of that was clearly changed in the W4 cinematic reveal. I don't care, but there's clearly been a change.

Worth waiting and seeing. I thought the major issue was ciri possibly becoming a witcher in the trailer and i thought that women couldn't be witchers due to some written reason i wouldn't know. If i recall they're basically sterile however. Then again i only really played the first Witcher game so what do i know of the game's story. Women can still be absurdly powerful in the Witcher series without being Witchers.
I've enjoyed the trailer quite a lot and don't see any issues with the way ciri is designed. She looks quite plausible in terms of her ethnicity and age. Admittedly, the comparison to the bogdanoff twins made me giggle, because there is some truth to it. Whether or not the game is negatively affected by "the message" remains to be seen. A healthy amount of suspicion is justified and inevitable these days, but I believe we should be reasonable about it and not feed the grifters who've made a business from excessive preemptive outrage.
The atmosphere of the trailer was great, the gradually escalating monster hunt very much in theme with previous witcher material. The situation surrounding the human "monsters" was heartbreaking and done with nuance, as the father of the girl is clearly desperate and helpless, the antagonist villagers clearly misguided by ignorance and adherence to tradition rooted in necessity as opposed to driven by malice.

Yeah, that was the main area of contention for the trailer IMO, was that Ciri wasn't using her Elder blood magic powers, but moreso basic witcher ones and she was drinking witcher potions which implies she underwent the trial of the grasses which are usually fatal if you aren't very young and like you said makes them sterile, which is definitely something both Geralt and Yennefer highly regret suffering from (hence the adoptive daughter aspect for Ciri for both of them) so I can't imagine they would be involved in her going through that same process, especially when she really doesn't need it with her existing Elder Blood powers. So we'll see what their reasoning for that is, but at most I can see them saying she went through a different process via a different witcher school that isn't as intense maybe? Don't see why she would need to though.
She's clearly much older than in Witcher 3 so that leaves a lot of time for things to change. We also can't overlook that Witchers were a huge part of her growing up and a key influence in her life.
Even with the downsides she might well have wanted to become one strong enough that she sacrificed parts of herself to go through the trials to become one. Or found a different way to become one (or close to one).

My wife and me, we love playing W3 together, even though it's a single player game and we have known and loved Geralt and Jaskier since our childhoods in the 90's.
We also love playing couch co-opRPGs like Divinity or BG3.
We would play the crap out of the game you propose
