Out of my Mind

Jumping on the boat and starting a thread for Imperial Fists.
I'm still in the VERY early stages of assembling but I'm off to some sort of start.

Fafnir Rann and the 2 of 3 Tactical Squads. I'll put the Vexilla on later. Still trying to find some left handed Bolt Pistols for the Sgts.

Heavy Support Squads. I simply picked the 3 weapons that Imp. Fists would benefit from. Autocannons and Illiastus will probably be common. I built a squad of Heavy Bolters for smaller games.

2 Deredeos. No real plan on using them since I plan to have other options to fill the Heavy Support slots. Still had the models, and had some spare hobby time to build them waiting for the bits on other units.

Scout Squads, found some 3rd party heads that I quite happy with.

That's actually quite a big start! I would really like to see some close-ups of the models - especially the Scouts. I like where you're going with the bases too.

I like the Deredeos - they look quite imposing as a pair. I wish I'd waited for the lascannon arms before building mine.

I have spare left-handed bolt pistols if you need them.

Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Out of my Mind

I've got a 3rd Tac Squad, 3 Rhinos, and 2 Land Raiders 90% built. The 30 Mk3 are going to the Breachers. I'm on the fence about what to do with the 10 Mk6 I've got leftover. Originally I was goin to take the 3rd squad of Tac out to 20 seeing that having 2 10 man in Rhinos, and 1 full squad for a backfield objective seems like sound advice. Castellans will make it so that the Heavy Squads can fill that role, so I'm leaning toward using them to convert up some Seekers. Sitting on a box of Tartaros Terminators that I don't know what I'm going to do with yet. I'll try and get better pictures when I get the Pauldrons/Doors, clear my actual hobby table, and try to figure out where my Ipad is since it's been years since I've even used it.

The Pauldrons/Doors, Contemptors (and Lascannon Arms), Apothecaries, Vigilator, and the Warden kits are somewhere in the mail system on its way. Silly me for thinking it would show up in a reasonable time when I ordered them mid Nov. I also just started on the Breachers since I have most of the bits to do those right now. Haven't figured out what Satan is bringing me this year yet. With what my mates are getting for being on the nice list, I'm hoping that the Bolt Pistols will turn up soon. They know I'm looking for them. If not, I'll definitely hit you up.

I like the look of the Deredeos and like several of my other decisions, have kitted them out with what I'd expect to find on an Imp. Fist Dread. Autocannons, Heavy Bolters hitting on 2's with a Missile launcher for fun. Like I said in the other thread, I already have 3 Heavies, plan on doing a Predator or two, and now that I know the Punisher gets the +1, I'm looking at those as well. My Heavy Support options are almost too many before I add the Deredeos to that list.

Nice to see Heavy Support Squads with something other than Lascannons

Deredo's are really good. I always try and make space for one in my lists. I prefer the Plasma armed one to the Autocannons.

Out of my Mind

After a few chats with several people and starting to read the rules here is the list I'm loosely building to start out and learn how to play. I'm currently working on building the Breacher units right now. The Castellan and Predators are the only models I don't currently have on it's way to me. I get the keep a theme, not taking any obligatory or tax units so I'll enjoy everything I'll field.

----- Fast Attack -----
• 15 xPhalanx Warder Squad

I thought about doing Lascannons before settling on Imp. Fists. Once I settled on the Legion, Autocannons felt like a decent trade for hitting on 2's. Yes, I'm relying on 6's to punch armor but that's what the Siege Breaker is in there for. Running the Contemptors with Lascannons to back them up. It wasn't until I read the Castellan though that options really stood out and I really think running all 3 Heavy squads is the best way to make use of him. I feel that the both squads already give me some tactical flexibility without fully committing them to a dedicated role. As I play around with other lists, it's hard for me not include him if I take any Heavy Squads.

It's a foot slogging list for sure, but I really want to see how much punishment this list can take on it's own feet before jumping into a Stone Gauntlet. I'm already ready to mix it up though and drop down to 2 Tac Squads in Rhinos, add a Rhino to the Illiastus squad with the free'd up points and add in the other units like Scouts, and Seekers. I have 2 Land Raiders if I want to go more mobile, but not really my playstyle tbh, just the option is there.

With both of these approaches, there just isn't room for the Deredeos right now. Not much fun, but I'd like to get some standard Contemptors and maybe a Leviathan or 2 down the line just to have in my collection. Going that route I'm just a step away from a Fury of the Ancients list which I'm told is a good way to lose friends, but I'd like to be able to play Giant Stompy robots for fun if I go that far.
