Subject: Anyone got Ethernet advice?

So have wired up flat with cat6 cable. Have 7 cables behind skirting, under floorboards and all terminating in a cupboard with the routers fibre optic running into it.
But have never wired up boxes for these things.
Have I assume 1 one gang, two socket boxes, and 5 one gang one socket boxes. As well as I assume 2 two gang 4 (well 3 and 4) socket boxes next to the switch as opposed to plugging them straight into the switch. And a packet of 50 plugs and collars/boots to make all the connecting cables.
For the boxes scattered around the home would prefer 25mm (or smaller if possible) deep back boxes.
Am I better off getting moulded cat 6 sockets, or should I go for the modular ones that can have x sockets in the front plate as required?
Also any other tips gratefully received.

Been a long time since I did any physical cabling like this... I was concerned you might struggle with a 25mm back box but looks like there are sockets out there that will fit, eg:
https://www.cablemonkey.co.uk/cat6-modules-outlets/28-cat6-utp-rj45-module-euromod-size-5056045700257.html
Personally I'd be inclined to go modular - can replace individual sockets if they get damaged (kids yanking cables, ramming it with the hoover, etc) without having to replace the whole face plate. But moulded may reduce the office aesthetic a bit!

Always build expandability into it.
"should I go for the modular ones that can have x sockets in the front plate as required?" Yes, and blank off the spares.
What speeds are you running across these cables? At work, we only go up to Cat6A, and we only really use Cat5E for nearly everything outside the datacentre. But, we're skint, and have use what we have.

Given the efforts to run the wires everywhere (floorboards have been lifted, joists drilled through and in one murderous day stacked cables laid behind far too thin skirting), I don't think I will need to add sockets, or indeed will be able to run additional cable to them, but the key rooms have 2 cables.
But damaged sockets is an interesting point, I hope people won't break them but I can imagine it.
Speed wise the internet connection on a good day is 850mbps, the server box uses old hard drives in a raid 1 config so isn't that fast. I am just going to use the copper cat 6 cable everywhere as I got a load of it at work.

For speeds less than a Gig, Cat6 is perfect.
If you can get a tester, test as you make the cables.
Oh, and good on ya for avoiding Wifi. It has its place, but I'd always recommend wired over Wifi.

Heh, ours sometimes get rammed by forklifts, but hopefully you won't have that problem in your living room!
And yes, they have significant protection that must be gone through first... The forklift drivers still manage it!

Drive-by chairings happen a lot in offices, ramming the cables into the socket. I expect it'd happen at home too, if the sockets aren't under desks or behind TVs, etc.
