Hello. I recently rediscovered this game and picked up the daimyo edition rules.Does anybody know what the game balance is like? I have three relatives I will be playing with and all of us tend to lean towards the power gamey side of things. The game reads like herohammer but with oldhammer style maneuvers. Is this correct? Are there sny specific combos that lead to hilarious nonsense?

Wow, I dimly recall this game from when I first started Wargaming in the late-80's/early 90's. I would love to see some photos of painted minis if the Daimyo edition has any.

I wonder which version/year the game is set in of the Legend of the 5 Rings universe. Must be around 2nd or 3rd edition of the RPG?

I played it back in the day and translated the ruleset into spanish (it's outside on the interwebs in case anyone's interested ^^)

I remember it being quite tactical with movements and maneuvering, not very herohammer at all (most characters didn't kill a lot, but improved the untis they were in), but I can't really say much about balance, unfortunately.

One neat thing the Daimyo edition did was that it came with a DVD with Army Builder and the Clan War lists inside.

@Easy E: Clan War was first released at the tail end of the 1st edition of the RPG, while the Daimyo edition came early 2nd edition (2000). It's set... well, during the Clan War ^^. The 2nd edition of the RPG is more or less set in the same timeline.
