I need some help with this. I have this roster (it's my first time ever doing this). My friends play Necrons, Terminids, adeptas sororitas and Tau.

Haven't decided which?
1. Captain (sculpted with a spear instead of a sword. should I use this?).
a. Captain with terminator armor (not sure I should use this instead?)
b. Captain in gravis armor (not sure I should use this instead?)

2. Wolf Guard Lieutenant (from space wolf combat patrol)
3. Intercessors (5 units) (from space wolf combat patrol)
4. Intercessors (5 units) (from space wolf combat patrol)
5. Infernus squad (5 units) (from ultramarine combat patrol)
6. Invictor Tactical Warsuit (with from space wolf combat patrol w flame thrower)
7. Eliminators 3 squad (not built not sure which weapons to use. need input on this)).
8. Terminators (5 units from ultramarine combat patrol).
9. Hounds of Morkai (5 units. 4 with pistols and knives, 1 with grappling hook and knife).
10 Reivers: 5 Units (4 with pistols and knives, 1 with grappling hook and knife. from space wolf combat patrol).
11. Thunderwolf Cavalry (3 of them with power spears and shields).
12. Librarian in terminator armor (from ultramarine combat patrol)

Well, quick math puts that whole list at about 1,270 points. So what do we cut to get you under the point cap?

You don’t have a gravis unit for that captain to hang with, so I’d drop him. You also have 2 terminator characters, but only one squad. I’d keep the lib, drop the captain, as you have another captain in your collection already.

You probably need to cut 2 more things to get under the limit. I’d clip the reivers, as you have the hounds, and they are similer. Hounds look to be more killy, reivers have more movement/deploy tricks. I might also cut the Lt, as I prefer more boots on the ground. But that’s debatable.

Just some quick thoughts. A lot depends on what you like and want to see on the table. Your collections does seem a little light on anti-tank, so for this list the las-fusils might be the better choice. Not that there is anything wrong with the bolt snipers, you just don’t need them as much in this list. If you have more AV firepower, they add a little something extra.

Awesome!! Do you think I should then swap out existing units for others?

I had been told:
Blade guard vets, redemptor dreadnaught are a must
Maybe a troop transport? Eliminators?

Dont know which tanks etc I should consider

A lot depends on what you like. And what detachments, etc you pick.

There are as many ways to build a marine list as there are players. We have a ton pf units that overlap on getting the various jobs you need to do on the battlefield. How efficient they are at is changes, due to FAQs and points updates. So what’s good today might be mediocre tomorrow. But unless you are playing at top tables at tournaments, that’s not a huge deal. The mood of your dice will have more of an impact the. The fact that one unit is slightly more killy for it’s points then another.

Your list as it stands has a bit of chop, and a lot of low strength firepower. You should do fine chewing through regular troopers and chaff. Big monsters and tanks will be an issue. Bladeguard are nice, but they are more of what you can already do. Any of the primaris dreads would bring some crunch to the party.

I like repulsors, but I know many do not. It would bring some serious guns and transport some troops. A gladiator lancer or valiant is a pure gunboat.

You’ve got a lot of infantry, a solid core to build around. If I were you, I’d add a pair of dreads (redemptor w/ plasma, ballistis) a repulsor, and a lancer. That would get you pretty close to a 2k list, and add a chunk of AV firepower. You would probably have room for another unit or two to taste.

If you got them, I would swap at least one of them into the 1k list, just for more firepower.

Note: I’m not sure what’s hot right now in 10th. These units should do their job, but might not be the best at them. But it’s what I would do. It’s more important long-term to build an army you enjoy then to chase the fleeting power curve and the min/max units. That said, you do want to win some of your games, so if people trash on a unit, listen. It doesn’t mean you can’t include units of reivers in your list, but you might need to tighten up other bits.

And there is a reason I’m picking on reivers. They’ve had a bad run of points/rules since they were introduced. That said, I’ve not seen them on the table in 10th. They may have gotten better. That said, a lot of people compare units on how well they kill marine equivalent units. Which they don’t do well. But they should blend light hordes. The question is do you need that in your list? They also have a ton of movement tricks, which can be useful for objectives and harassment. Best use of points? Maybe not. But could be fun. But that’s subjective. And also why we are here.
