I have the 2018 Kill Team box with the Mechanicus and neophyte hybrids and the scenery painted up and preferable to mdf for me. I also have a small army of necron warriors, a larger army of imperial fist and eldar and Blackstone fortress box. I’m interested in playing the new game solo and playing both sides. What else do I need besides the core rules? Will any of my models fit seamlessly into the new game or will I need to tweak or buy new boxes?

Thanks
Darren

The new game played solo and played with both sides are pretty much the same experience - the solo rules offer very little in the way of lessening the burden of operating the NPCs, as most of them need to perform exactly the same actions in exactly the same way PCs do. Only their stats are simplified in comparison. So you really just spend as much time performing automa moves as your own. Not the best design tbh.

Check either the Kill Team App or these documents : https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/xfV8vUOg/download-the-kill-team-app-and-faction-rules-today/ for team rules. Out of your armies the one that will most likely have all the models for a player-run Kill Team are Imperial Fists (Angels of Death kill team). Use other armies as NPCs for solo/co-op. Once you get some experience with how the game plays, it will be easier for you to see if you can construct other Kill Teams from the rest of your collection.

Core Rules rulebook should be enough to get you going, although some tokens (at least order, ie Engage/Conceal activation tokens) would be really useful. You can replace them with some markers for your first games, but the game will probably run smoother and the board state will be easier to read with dedicated order tokens. Oh, the board itself could also come in handy, so that you can easily set it up without taking measurements to limit the playing area on a bigger board every time.

Personally, I've cherry picked the solo / Co Op rules from KT24 and still play KT21 with them. You have the compendium teams still in KT21, which should be a better fit for your existing models IMO. OTOH you could just as well convert the KT21 compendium teams into KT24 teams, and stick to the new rules if that's what you prefer..

Thanks, I bought the core rules. Then I ended up buying a box of Kasrkin in the shop and ordering a box of Kroot online! ? I’m playing through my first solo game as Skatarii while I paint my new models. I’m using traitor guardsmen and Ur-ghuls from the Blackstone fortress box for NPOs.

I’m starting turn 2. NPOs have initiative. A tough brawler is within 6 inches of a scitarii ranger. Even if that brawler moves up so he’s standing right next to the ranger is the ranger still concealed? It seems from the rules that is the case and whenever I try searching for an answer online it always refers to not being able to shoot at concealed operatives. Somewhere it was suggested it can be different in melee but didn’t elaborate.

It just seems odd to think an operative is still concealed if an enemy is standing by his side.

Yes, Conceal status is chosen by the owner of the operative. It basically means "hugging cover". You may still have a Conceal order even in the open, it just isn't doing anything. Similarly, note that melee or shooting from 2" is possible against an enemy with a Conceal order - think of it as if the operative is still hidden from other enemy operatives but not the one that is close.

So only you decide whether your soldier is TRYING to hide, but enemy position may result in this attempt being unsuccessful.

At least in KT21, if you are within 2 inches of an enemy operative, it does not count as being concealed, so is a valid target for shooting or charging. Not sure if the rules changed in KT24

Also, a Blades of Khaine kill team should be pretty easy to build out of a Craftworld Eldar collection, as it simply consists of Banshees, Avengers and Scorpions. It's quite a bit more tricky to play, though, than Astartes. May be confusing at the start.
