I've written a 4000 word short story for publication in Shrapnel, but before I attempt to submit it, I need a few background details that I cannot find on my own...

I've checked Sarna and a couple other sites. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

1. I need some places that are not the major showdown locations that the Word of Blake nuked into oblivion.

2. What is the senior rank for a Death Commando still working in the field?

3. What is the jet fuel for conventional fighters (like the Angel) called?

Thank you!

I probably won't be able to help much, stuff post-Fed Com Civil War I'm still fuzzy on...

A couple sources might be Dawn of the Jihad and Jihad Hot Spots, which the first Hot Spot was joined with the Dawn in the Blake Ascending: A Jihad Compilation book. Sadly, I don't think I have those.

Cappellans aren't my strong point. It depends on the Era, though from what it sounds like, you're looking at the Jihad Era. In most cases, though, Colonel or Major equivalents are the most common. It would be rare for a general to hit the field. Maybe you can find an options here?

Depends on the Engine. Most Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) are set up to work with a lot of different sources from hydrocarbons to alcohol. Fusion-powered Fighters usually use the same fuel in Aerospace Fighters, which is just listed as "fuel" as far as I know.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

You've been a big help so far. I've had to age up my Capellan, as I needed someone who could pilot some of the older stuff.

So, Major might be the way to go.

The Jihad is not my specialty, but the story I'm working on let's me slip my twisty Espionage Story into an era where you had a big enemy, who wasn't the group with their ongoing war with contractions.

My issue with jet fuel is having a pilot in the story who knows whats going on, and me not truly understanding why the WOB LAMs needed jet fuel to begin with, don't they have reactors?

Even fusion ASFs need fuel, hence the requirement for a LAM. The fuel in a LAM and an ASF (hydrogen) would not be the same as an ICE engine (what we would think of as "fuel" more conventionally).

Old BT forum thread discussing some of that: https://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=39099.0

Thanks, I'll give it a read.

Fusion-powered aircraft like Aerospace fighters, Dropships, and probably LAMs as well, use H2 as fuel - that is, molecular hydrogen -both to power the reactor itself, and as reaction mass for thrust.

CHAOS! PANIC! DISORDER!
My job here is done.
