Howdy folks!

With the official Fallout Factions rulebook on pre-order and the PDF available now, I was curious if anyone here has tried the game and your thoughts on it.

I tried Wasteland Warfare when it first came out, but eventually sold it all. The game felt clunky and fiddly, so I was excited to see Factions come out. Was curious to see how the approach went before diving in and now with an official ruleset covering more than Nuka-World, it's piqued my curiosity!

The big problem for me is it looks like list-building can get a little stale with premade loadouts and especially since you'll be taking almost a whole box worth of minis in each list. I did see there were upgrades for weapons, but not sure if that's enough list-building to keep me interested for a long without feeling the need to buy into more factions.

So, if you've played it, what are your thoughts and impressions? Really curious to hear some opinions!

the Mothership...

I've only watched a few videos and it seemed like an even more skirmish version of an already large skirmish game so I don't really know why they felt the need to fork it off instead of just being a game mode instead or a new edition. Admittedly, I dont have any actual play experience and have only skimmed through the rules very superficially so almost assuredly missed key elements. From an outsider's perspective, having two similar factions in the starter seemed like an odd choice but supposedly its true to the videogame DLC lore?

I also feel the same as you, warboss. Having two different skirmish games in the same setting is just so odd. I kind of get why they did it though. Wasteland Warfare is such a beast of a game, some folks will bounce off (like me) as it's clunky.

I also get what you mean with the current starter being different flavors of the same thing. I never played Nuka-World either, but just feels weird to try to start this new skirmish game based off of a DLC with somewhat similar feelings to them. Seems it would have made sense to launch the game with this upcoming rulebook and a starter with more aestheticly different factions, but c'est la vie, I guess.

Yeah, what struck me as odd (and maybe I missed something) but the two forces in the box seemed like two mostly human scavenger/survivor type gangs. I would have expect for sure one of them to be but not both... the other seems like it should have been a ghoul warband or supermutants or brotherhood to give it a more at a glance visual difference. When I looked more into it, it seemed like they didn't have the rules ready to go for the others as well initially but that has since been fixed with a free download on their site. Again, I looked into the game about two months ago when I realized that it was a completely new game and not just an add on to the existing one so may have missed/messed up things in my quick look.
