Used to use DakkaDakka years upon years ago, as well as some of the other common forums back then for the hobby (40k) and trading/swapping minis.. but I don't remember my old info at all, so here I am, on a new account. Haven't played nor dabbled in 40k in the better part of.. 15 years? (5th edition or so).. due to -one- individual at a local GW store.. but here I am, back again, and hopefully with better experiences

Used to be a heavy SM player (who hasn't), with a heavy dabble in lots of other armies.. nowadays I'm looking to liquidate my old stuff entirely to focus on a single army or two.. ok fine, we all tell ourselves that, then we end up with 8 armies and start considering a 9th.. Currently looking at Guard (Cadian most likely, or at least something that resembles Cadian), and probably Orks (specifically an all grot army)

Best of luck I am currently sitting this edition out as failed totally to get into it. Same in local club, but some of course are heavily invested. I would recommend checking out local scene and seeing if its 40k or a game like kill team that is dominating, otherwise hard to get games!

I took a 15 year hiatus from the hobby...

But much like Hollywood mob movies, you think you're out but they pull you back in.

Free 10th Edition Rules and some easier modes of play got me to play again.

I ignore 95% of meta chasing douchbaggery that I see at local shops, and focus on having fun. Games like Combat Patrol and Kill Team work wonders for the fun department.

Before you scrap any of your forces, see if you can build Combat Patrols or Kill Teams out of them.

And if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Good luck - I'm sitting out this edition too (haven't played 40k since August 2023). But I'm enjoying the heck out of GW's revival of old fantasy - Warhammer: The Old World. Best of luck!

"The Dakka Dive Bar is the only place you'll hear what's really going on in the underhive. Sure you might not find a good amasec but they grill a mean groxburger. Just watch for ratlings being thrown through windows and you'll be alright." Ciaphas Cain, probably.
