So just reading through and noticed the tau fortifications meet the criteria of Tau Empire Unit so in theory they could use experimental ammunition or threat assessment analyzer.

Which if true could bring up some interesting rule interactions with the drone port. Like giving it hazardous.

One thing I'm wondering about is how would it work as it's allowed to fire at everything within it's weapons range. Would it get one hazardous check per unit fired at per gun or is it considered to be done shooting after it has fired at every available unit?

I suppose it would be the latter as "Droneport: Each time this FORTIFICATION is selected to shoot, its Drone defenders weapon will target and resolve attacks against every enemy unit that is an eligible target to this FORTIFICATION."

Hazardous:" After a unit shoots or fights, roll one Hazardous
test (one D6) for each Hazardous weapon
used. For each 1, one model equipped with a
Hazardous weapon is destroyed (Characters,
Monsters and Vehicles suffer 3 mortal
wounds instead)."

But this all rides on the fact of a fortification being able to use Stratagems.

It's pretty tame until it gets into units firing out the 11 firing deck spots. In which case this thing could get up to 12 checks per shooting sequence.

The more important question is the Fortification qualify as a Character, Monsters, or Vehicle? If not...1 bad roll and it dies.

It has the vehicle and transport keyword

If its a vehicle - Then it should be able to use stratagems.

But I'd double check on that, my knowledge of 10th edition is limited to Combat Patrol.

I'm not aware of any particular prohibition on Fortifications using Stratagems.

As to the original question: the model is only selected to shoot once, and takes one Hazardous test for each weapon that fired (regardless of how many times it fired).

If, however, a unit was eligible to be selected a second time (for example, Custodian Guards), then that would trigger a second round of tests.

That's how I thought it worked but wanted to clear it up. I've been known to miss a big glaring prohibitive rule line somewhere obvious before.

Not that this is game breaking just wanted to play it right if I do decide to use it.

I've made missing subtle hints, clues and even bold lettering into an art form.

BorderCountess knows her stuff. I'd hate to get into an argument with her.

How many points is this Fortification by the way? I have a buddy who plays Tau and I'm always on the lookout to help him expand his army...

It's only 85pts same as a devilfish so makes it pretty easy to swap between the two
