I'll be watching this with great interest. I love Malifaux and its made huge improvements every edition, but I struggle to keep up with the bloat. I'll definitely be looking to narrow my collection a bit and get some new players.

As a big Malifaux player im pretty excited by this. Im going to be in France when the details drop so I can watch it making sacré bleu noises into a baguette.
Things im hoping for:
1) Revamp or reintroduction of a 2 player starter box with learning campaign (like the m2e box)
2) Greater standardization of ability names where possible so we dont have 90 different names for the same ability
3) Wyrd working with hobby channels to get the game featured more. Its a superb game with excellent models, just not as well known as it should be imo.

I liked the 2nd edition of malifaux, even though I barely had a chance to play it. In the end I got more painting projects out of wyrds product, than games.
Sadly it seems to have been dropped by all brick and mortar stores I’ve been residing close to in the last few years, so it vanished rapidly after the introduction of 3d edition in my corner of the world.
Hope it goes very well for 4th edition, especially considering tariffs wars. Praise be it doesn’t follow warmachine but Infinity.

I enjoyed first and second. There was a bit of scene until 8th edition 40k came along, sweeping all before it. But the narrative moved along too quickly, new events and characters coming thick and fast. Are McMourning and Lady Justice still around? Anybody from the original rulebook? I couldn't keep up.

Yeah I got Squatted with Nicodem and the they kicked Tara out of Ressers for Jack Daw (never cared for him)
The News and Rumors section is all about surprises. I'd certainly hate it if we got 100 posts saying "I know something you don't know..." - malfred

I lost Ramos, but overall enjoyed the changes to M3E. Moving away from M2Es very minmaxed selection of models to more thematic crews was a huge improvement. Being able to focus on just a master and pull heavily from models in their box sets instead of needing like one model from a dozen different boxes was a huge move in the right direction.
I'm hoping M4E takes that farther, but at the same time I worry the game is just too bloated in general for them to keep up with. I love it, but the game seems to always get dominated by a couple masters due to specific rules that just play scenario too well. It has so much variety in playstyles, but then Wyrd makes scenario packets that really only benefit one of them and I feel like most of my collection sits on the shelf.
Also, I'd love to see the game sped up, but I'm not entirely sure how. It just seems like a game that eats up a whole night and often ends on time rather than completing. Some of that is a lack of practice, but its still very long for a game with so few models.

I dropped out of Malifaux back in late 2nd edition, mostly due to the power creep (and that they faq'd cards pretty damn often). Also they binned my two main masters- Lilith and Ramos. Haven't touched 3rd but I saw there's a new eighth faction? Also are rezzers still pretty powerful? I ask as I used to get slaughtered by them on the regular, regardless of opponent and master.
I've not seen any Malifaux on shelves locally so I'm not sure how popular it is here. It used to be popular about a whole decade ago, which is almost how long I've sat out. I would dip my toes back in if there was a starter box, like 2e had, but I'm leery of bloat. 2e had seven factions with seven masters apiece. If there's eight factions with 7-8 masters that's a whole load of masters to balance out, with supporting faction based units.
Sad to hear that 3e takes a while, 2e used to be fairly fast iirc.
This is where I'd put my signature...If I had one!

One aspect of the game we felt ripe for improvement was the playtime. It’s not uncommon for casual games of Malifaux Third Edition to last four hours or more. A major goal of Fourth Edition was to reduce that playtime to two hours, and we’re proud to say that all testing so far shows we’ve succeeded.

I don't mind this kind of stuff as much anymore now that you can really just play a keyword if you want as its own thing. I honestly totally get this one. In M3E they took out McCabe, which felt like a weird choice, but Guild could use some variety so I was on board but then he gets replaced with.... something that feels entirely redundant with Perdita... that also shared a faction with McCabe?!? He just struggled to stand out in either faction and I'm hoping he has a better niche in Arcanists.
I am annoyed that the Death Marshal Recruiters are an official proxy for Thirty-Three but Thirty-Three is now Tara's totem. That's 3 of Lady J's best looking sculpts that she can't take anymore.
