Battlegrounds is expanding their army selection, check it out if interested. They finally have a proper rule book too.

I like the unit cards as miniature stand ins for those without the desire or ability to paint an army.

I wonder if other forces are in the works for the future...

Battlegrounds Fantasy Warfare has been around for 20 years, first set released in 2005 I think.. I got into it with the fantasy aspect, collecting all the army decks from "back in the day".. Still missing the Dark Elf set..

Im glad to see they are still around and re-envisioning some of the older stuff..

First time seeing this. Neat concept. 100 bucks for a rulebook and two paper armies is bit on the high side tho.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

Big fan of this system, and we own all of the earlier releases. A surprisingly solid "tabletop wargame" when you can't be bothered to dig out mountains of rank and flank models.

11527pts Total (7400pts painted)

4980pts Total (4980pts painted)

not to mention how portable it is, 2-4 decks of cards is nothing compared to 28mm models..

My only trepidation here is their non-tariff plan. Game is already not being offered at much of a discount and the Gamefound just says, eh... we'll sort out tariff stuff later. That's not a great reading of the room when loads of crowd-funders are crapping their pants as backers have gotten understandably cautious.

there are two other armis for sale on the website that are upgraded to current edtion, the vampires and the Men of Hawkshold. These funding will be their third and fourth.
They have many others, older sets, but I'd stick with the above if new.

I first played this at Kublacon with a friend, a demo game, about 13 years ago.

... i stand corrected. These are the other armies you can add to your pledge, which mean they are upgraded and able to play (although only two mentioned above have upgraded art).
the add-ons are:

Men of Hawkshold
Lords of Vlachold
Dark Elves
Wuxing

Thank you for the info.

That makes the system more interesting for me.

We're there any other forces available for the previous edition that haven't made it to this one?

So there aren't editions per se, and the entire line is playable (like 13 armies), its just that slowly they've been getting art and production value updates.

No, but I THINK there's a print-and-play generic deck they can use. I don't recall 100%.

They just posted that they secured European / UK friendly shipping, that is helpful.

Why? It's two dimensional and they are fighting? It's not really very similar.

Your Move Games' Facebook:

"I just had a VERY long talk with out fulfillment partner in the UK/EU. They reiterated some hard truths that I knew but was hoping to avoid. We are going to be cancelling this launch. Missteps on my part early in the launch did not give it the start it deserved and so we bounced around a lot from 85% to 90% funded but could never break above that level.

I'm sure the tariff situation did not help and just added another level of anxiety to potential backers

That is the bad news. The good news is we will be relaunching later this year. Hopefully by the end of the summer, tariffs will have been sorted and we will have made some big changes to the look of the launch. We can add some more details on game play and more reasons for backing.

I don't do this lightly and I know that canceling may turn off some people. But in the end I have to do what is best for the game and for the business.

If you're not already following us on social media join the groups and also please be sure to visit our Rattrap Games site and sign up for email notifications for when the two factions relaunch.

Thank you to all those who backed and stuck with it through the ups and downs and I hope we will see you again when we relaunch around September."

I can understand their reasons and am happy they're giving it another go in the fall!

Looks like a fun system, and easily adapted to miniatures of one were so inclined...

I was honestly surprised to see its still around. 15 years ago the game was everywhere in the Boston area.
