What soured you on it? We haven't had any issues in our dozen games or so.

For us it became really clear that incomplete rules work in an RPG, but in a structured wargame, you have a harder time when a loosey-goosey rule just asks you to make up an interpretation. The scenario builder, and maaaaany random table results imply rules, and leave it to you to decide how to execute them.
We also had ten or so fun games, before we saw the seams showing and mostly realized we were making up our own game half the time.
Again, this isn't an insult, as Chris' RPGs follow the same "vibes over rules" energy, but we just like something very different in a wargame. MAC is clearly following on from The Doomed.

Designers think there's an untapped market of people who bought Battletech miniatures but aren't playing games with them, or something?
I can't speak for others, but I've been playing and putting on convention games of "Rules Light" Mech games for over a decade. Folks seem to like them. I love the BT universe, but not chunky rules, so instead of BT I play "Mech Attack" and when I want big battles it's "Alpha Strike".
Our group prefers rules-lite games in general so Mech Attack, OPR, Kings of War, Song of Blades, are our go-to's. Mordheim and Necromunda95 are about as chunky as we get and those are downright streamlined compared to current GW games. All this to say there does seem to be a market for affordable games that you can easily play to completion on a workday evening.
I'm on the fence about MAC, but I'll be watching.

If the demo video is the majority of play, this is really just Battletech “lite.” You’d think this is a Catalyst product the similarities are so close. Still enough “grit” for those that like the detail of BT, but clearly resolution is far, far quicker.
As others have said, there seems to be a golden age of decent mech games out there right now:
Wiley Games Battlesuit Alpha
DRD Steel Rift
Collin’s Epic Wargames Polyversal
PO Horizon Wars, and now the most recent modified version (of which I pledged on Kickstarter), Hardwar
I’ve found all these games to be fun in their own ways, as I found BT Alpha Strike and regular BT (as long as the mech count is real low). I hope for success and Ill may think about this over the next week if I want a digital copy or not….hmmmm.
Thanks for the info on this game.
