Great theme, though aren’t Valkyries still considered pretty terrible for their points cost?

If you want something more competitive then avoid spending 570 points on Valkyries. If you’re not fussed then go nuts.

One of my dream armies was to build a complete Airborne army.

Unfortunately, the Vulture got shoved into Legends and I can't find any in the cheap, and the Valkyrie Transports are ridiculously expensive points-wise.

Oh, and the Vendetta (also now in Legends) got strangely nerfed... it's a Transport with the Transport Keyword, but can't carry anyone.

It's just a mess right now.

One great transport flyer is the Arvus Lighter, now available in plastic (not resin). Too bad it’s been sent to the Horus Heresy, not sure if it’s still available as a Legends unit for 40K.

Still, might be worth checking it out if the people you play with are willing to allow it.

I thought the Arvus lighter was a flying cardboard box with a heavy bolter?

It's still 40k Legends.

Nope, it's just a flying cardboard box. No HB here in 10e.

The new plastic Horus Heresy Arvus Lighter comes with an optional rear mounted multi laser. The 40K version has no weapons at all as ccs says.

Still, you get the Arvus Lighter for its transport capacity, not for firepower.

How you gonna kill fat stuff like tanks or monsters? I mean Valkyrie have lascannon and hellstrike missiles, but is it enough? I thought about airborne regiment myself but don't know if it can handle high toughness targets

Somehow I like it less than your first list... Probably more competitive though. I especially like that you've taken Elysian Drop Sentinels.

The previous comment about you not being to take out nasty monsters / tanks is still valid in this list I think. The 2 Sentinels will only get so lucky before they get wiped out.

I thought the Battle Cannons on Taurox Primes might be helpful, but I see the issue.

I don't want to include Heavy armor in the list, so I'm at a loss for how to add more anti-tank.

I guess I could swap out Meltas for my Scions.

For 2k, I'm can add a Valkyrie filled with Scions... or maybe a squadron or 2 of Lascannon Sentinels.

What the point of Aquilons? If you anyway go for bridgehead why not take 2xmore scions? You can get all guys 2xMelta 2xPlasma and somehow deal with armour/monsters. Also bridgehead +1 OC don't work on Aquilons.
But may be I don't understand your strategy. Like command squads with priority beacon + scions all possible plasma + melta go deep strike, drop turn one and do early objectives harase enemy units if ya go second. Scions on tauroxes do things. Etc.
What's your game plan? How you gonna protects your deployment zone? Objectives?

The reasons for the Aquilons is that I own a squad of them, and can't afford to convert them to base Scions.

In 1k/Incursion where you are limited to 2/4 on data sheets, I used the Aquilons to hunt for enemy Command Squads while the Scions captured objectives.

But I could be playing all wrong. I just built the army due to the fact that I always wanted.an Elysian/Harakoni airborne army. I didn't really research it or study any guides online.

EDIT:
Plus the Combat Patrol was 20 scions, 1 command squad, and 1 Taurox... which I built. (Even though their heads are still on their way from Poland).

And the Kill Team was 10+1 (Sentry) Aquilons, so I have those.

If it from models you already have them ok. Just ask. And I some how amiss that moment with 2/4 limitation for incursion. Since you already have them then give it a try and see if you have issues in armour and your deployment zone. Also I don't think you can play 40k wrong if you don't play some kind of competition heavy environment.

Yeah, but I'm willing to learn to be better.

If you have an idea that will work I can always buy new stuff (just not immediately).
