I've been out of the hobby for awhile, went back to school to study architecture, its taken up allot of my freetime.
I had a project long ago, that involved turning the marines from the black reach box set into truescale csm, went with them being nurgle because it was the most forgiving for the ammount of cutting and hacking and the condition of the miniatures.
Parts of my old csm collection were added in too. Those models had been joined multiple warbands over their career, being snapped appart and re-converted and having multiple paint jobs they were in bad condition.
Now they all sit in a box, broken and forgotten. The marines that I did finish had turned out underwhelming, so they did not get the honour of sitting on a shelf and so were attrited to pieces by the broken parts of their brothers, or by me dropping them at one point (probably that actually).

However the powers of the plauge god are not to be underestimated, he can revive his favoured from even the most grevious of wounds and it seems now he has seen fit to endow this broken force with new and un-natural life. The box begins to stir.

The nurgling dangling on the back of the marine was the and result of mixing too much putty and wanting not to waste it. Then his head became too large on a small body so he was enlarged in size a bit. It should be covered up a bit by the backpack and arms when attached so it'll be a more hidden detail that wont be apparent until the back of the model is looked at hopefully.

Finished most of the hands and legs detail on the (very fat) nurgling, added some more chunkyness to the armour cracks in places and started sculpting a blight grenade.

I only brought this one model with me where I'm staying thats why its getting such a large ammount of detail.

I've realised a bit too late that the torso needs to be about a half a head taller, the width is fine with the bulking out the face provides. To correct this the cut I would need to make would go through the two main areas of detail I sculpted but that also provides some oppertunities to fix some issues.

Turned out to not be quite as difficult as I thought. Miraculously didnt cut through the face detail but allot of pieces snapped off easily like the horns and nurgling. Seems to be a consequence of working in layers and using vaseline, have tried washing the model but its not fully effective.

Looks cool. But tbh I like previous version with face on back more.

Thank you, I'm going to try sculpting the nurgling again, just more in proper proportion with the model.

Progress has been painstakingly slow as I've been mired in college deadlines. Extendes the torso more and then covered up the gap with armour and typical nurgle corruption. Got a cabel modelled for the nurgling to hang off.

Made some progress on the nurgling, its still slightly larger than intended but still more proportional to the marine than before I think

Allmost finished the nurgling and the blight grenade, also made the base for some nurglings to practice sculpting with.

Some progress on the nurglings even if its small, sculpting some things like eyes feels like its getting easier even if its a two stage process. Its fine if details turn out wonky because they will eventually be all on one base as a blob unit.
