So...

I've been reading a lot about the actual good guys of 40k, and was honestly thinking of picking up Vulkan He'stan and some Salamanders.

But. I cannot paint fire to save my life.

Any ideas on Alternatives? Something that would look good with these dudes?

What level do you paint at? If you are just aiming for table top results, you can do OK with some contrast paints and drybrushing. For the sculpted fires/braziers.

There are also a LOT of tutorials out there.

It’s not as hard as you’d think. I’ve done a few pieces. And if I can do it, anyone can.

Drybrushing is my jam (people still say that right?).

Never used contrast paints though.

I was also thinking of a more forest green... but I'm afraid it'll look too Farher Christmas with the reds and greens.

Drybrush from middgrey to white and then put thined red from bottom to 2/3 and once dried apply thinned yellow to upper 2/3 then another layer to upper 1/3 it's should work, if transition don't make it for you apply thinned orange to mid part
